My take on GMs is that they're mostly self-serving.

The new guy, Gupta, could take a huge swing on a controversial trade. And it could pan out... or he could be paying $35M for a 35% foul shooter and be blamed for it.

But, if he does absolutely nothing beyond not boning his secretary... he'll inherit a team that will make at least modest improvements from last season. And probably be rewarded for that.

The bar is low for the guy coming in after a disgraced guy. So I wouldn't be surprised if we see the status quo this season and we read reports about "searching for stability" and that kind of narrative for awhile.

Lol. Abe - nobody can capture the essence of things better than you. "If he does nothing beyond not boning his secretary...." I have nothing more to add except to thank you for that sentence, which will send me to bed laughing. :)

Good for Andrew Wiggins, honestly. If he doesn't want the vaccine, then he shouldn't be forced to get it nor should he be punished for his vaccination status. As of right now, there's no mandate for players from the league -- just for staff and workers, as I recall. What gets him in trouble is playing for a team who plays their home games in California. That will be an issue. Wiggins might give in before the start of the season, but his choice should be respected regardless. Thanks for sharing, monster. I hope he gets his exemption.

If Wiggins doesn't wanna get the vaccine and it costs him games, it only helps the Warriors.

What I will say simply is there are consequences for every action. I don't know Wiggins religious beliefs so I don't know if he would or should qualify for that exemption. There may be other players in a similar situation as well if they don't get vaccinated. I honestly haven't made up my mind if people should be forced to get it or not. Again there are consequences of any action whether good or bad or somewhere in the middle.

Just in terms of basketball if Wiggins misses a chunk of game because he is not vaccinated that would be a loss for the Warriors because he is a worthwhile player and would be a loss to his value as a player as well.

Also it's Wiggins so he likely isn't going to be telling us his reasoning. That's his right but I also won't be able to understand what his reasoning is.

I wonder if Wiggins is also not vaccinated against polio, hepatitis, measles, smallpox, etc. because of his religious beliefs. If he's not, I might suggest that Andrew consider exploring another religion. I think polio could have an adverse impact on his vertical.

Sam Amico is reporting:
- Sixers have had "multiple" conversations on Ben Simmons. Feeling around NBA is he will be moved within the next week. (Sixers will likely deny, "but they are trying," source says.)
- Some suspect the Nuggets will be a sleeper here.
- When it comes to possible Simmons trades, one GM told Hoops Wire: "Don't think in terms of straight-up trades." In other words, if it happens, could end up being multi-team deal.
- Final note: Ex-#TWolves basketball chief Gersson Rosas and new interim man Sachin Gupta had not been on speaking terms recently, but I've been told Minnesota's interest in Ben Simmons "has not waned."

To go along with that. Meatsauce on the power trip this morning said he is hearing this firing increases Ben Simmons to the Wolves and that Morey hated Rosas
