- Oklahoma City scares me. They could be a mystery team that hasn't been reported yet. The Thunder have an ungodly amount of draft picks they could throw at Philadelphia.
- I don't think Portland is entertaining any more talks with Philadelphia concerning Ben Simmons. I felt that way after they made the move for Larry Nance Jr. and I think they're prepared to run it back with this group one more time.
Pacers are the surprise team that we should be worried about, in my opinion.

Oddly enough, I could actually see the Pacers being a third team that helps facilitate the Wolves and Sixers.

Him being 6'6" with that body and athleticism is insane. I hadn't seen that he had grown until just now, but that is a significant development. It just makes him even more physically imposing.
crazysauce wrote:I can't believe any of you would entertain an Edwards for Simmons swap. That is crazy. Not a chance would I include Edwards. Also not sure if you guys had heard but Edwards has grown 2 inches in the offseason and is now at 6 foot 6. Also we are odds on favorites in some websites such as this one...
It's happening!!!!!! But please guys don't lose your minds. Any Simmons deal for Edwards is a hard no.
I feel about the same way for Jaden McDaniels as he maybe a younger stud who is on a rookie contract for the near future and to me Edwards and McDaniels along with KAT should all be hard nos, but I'm not sure Rosas puts McDaniels in that category because his timeline is short term focused rather than long term focused.

So how can he have grown two inches in the offseason and still be only 6"6? He was reportedly 6"6 back in November of last year. https://www.theringer.com/platform/amp/2020/11/19/21575235/nba-draft-anthony-edwards-minnesota-timberwolves
This is what I had in mind for a three-team trade involving the Pacers. I think all teams come out of this relatively happy -- or as happy as Philadelphia could be given the circumstances.

Indiana was apparently willing to offer Brogdon for Simmons. I don't see them giving up Brogdon for Maxey, Prince and a 2022 1st-round pick. Maybe the Wolves can become a third team to facilitate Simmons going to Indiana for Brogdon by sending Beasley and a 2023 1st-round pick to Philly, sending Naz Reid along with 2022 2nd-round pick to Indiana, and getting Myles Turner. Indiana could deal their own 2022 or 2023 1st-round pick to Philly as well. Indiana gets the best player in the deal and the player they were trying to get earlier in exchange for Brogdon. Philly gets a sharp-shooting SG along with Brogdan and a couple of 1st round picks. Minnesota gets the defensive, rim-protected big they need next to KAT in exchange for Beasley and a future protected first. Seems like a fair deal all around.

Minnesota sends Malik Beasley, Naz Reid, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2022 second-round pick to Indiana and Philadelphia for Myles Turner? That would be an awful trade for the Wolves in my view so I truly hope that's not even being discussed.

I think Rosas should be thinking short term though if he believes in the Kat era. Kat has only 3 years left. Will probably ask out if the Wolves don't make the playoffs next year or it will be the last year the Wolves can get max value for Kat or the Wolves will have to give Kat his 2nd max what is probably an over pay.
Also its not like we are trading for a 31 year old we are trading for a 25 year old. Now if you want to trade Kat and build around Ant McDaniels, I respect that opinion. Just my opinion if Rosas believes in Kat he should think in the short term.

NBA.com had Edwards listed at 6'3. I'm guessing that was his height without shoes from sometime before the pre-draft process. Apparently, Edwards grew one inch during the 2020 pre-draft process. That would make his 6'4 at the time he was drafted. Finch is now saying that Edwards grew another 2 inches since then, which makes him 6'6. So it all hangs together. Some of the confusion comes from other reports before last year's draft that listed Edwards at 6'4 or 6'5. I'm guessing the 6'5 was the typical inflated height measurement or estimate with shoes. I trust the NBA.com measurement of 6'3 and assume it was without shoes. Another source of confusion is the fact that the prior one-inch growth spurt apparently took place during last year's long pre-draft period between the end of the college season and the actually NBA draft. The Wolves reported a one-inch growth between the Ant's college season and the draft. I make sense. If 6'3 was the starting point from college, then one inch leading up to last year's draft plus another 2 inches since then would make him 6'6. That's really impressive if it's without shoes. It will be interesting to see him in person this season.
