Strangely enough, Minnesota has been linked to both free agents. We've been told repeatedly by reporters and Rosas himself that this roster will look very different come October. We've heard that Minnesota is up to something. Additionally, Rosas just feels like he'll be an aggressive move-maker here.
Well, dumping Andrew Wiggins, Gorgui Dieng, and Jeff Teague to bring in Russell and Harris would definitely flip the roster upside down. What a strong message that would send to Karl-Anthony Towns about winning too.
Let's say the price to pay for these sins (bad contracts) was a lottery-protected first round pick and Josh Okogie. Is pursuing Russell and Harris on four-year deals worth it to you?
Hard to say no to that one, Cam. You know I have misgivings about Russell and that I'm really high on Okogie. But I think what you've outlined is too enticing to pass up. My preference would be to include Culver rather than Okogie in the deal. I think, however, you have to draw the line somewhere just like Rosas drew the line in refusing to give up Covington to get Garland even thought I thought that was a mistake. I'd say no to giving up both Culver and Okogie. I'd also say no to giving up more than one future 1st round pick and I'd say no to giving up any 1st round pick that's not at least lottery protected. I'd prefer to give up Covington instead of Okogie.

I worry that he will make deals just to make deals because he feels he need to prove something.
I have the same concern. We've heard enough reports to conclude pretty definitively that the Wolves are very active in exploring possible trades. And it's safe to say that at least one of those trades is a possible sign-and-trade for D'Angelo Russell. Redick's comment confirms that KAT is actively recruiting free agents. No doubt one of them is his buddy Russell, but Redick used the plural so we can confidently conclude that KAT is recruiting at least one other free agent.
I like all this activity. I want our front office to be active and diligent. But I also don't want them making deals just to make a splash or losing patience and thinking they have to score big in free agency or via trades this summer. I'm still preaching patience. I continue to believe the best path to contention for this team through smart draft picks, shrewd below-the-radar free agent acquisitions of players who haven't broken through yet and effective player development. The quick fix won't work in my view.
I'm guessing the 2nd player is tobias harris. We've been linked to him and JJ would know because they are teammates
Lowe has suggested Harris and Russell in 2 separate podcasts.
What a I don't get is the questioning making moves to make moves on a thread where Zach Lowe said the wolves May move Wiggins for nothing or even get something back. That's not making a move to make a move that's a move that quite frankly is difficult to argue with IMO. and again that's coming from one of the last Wiggins men standing...with my hands on my hips...I am sweating though it's finally hot in Nebraska.

I'm still a Wiggins believer but that's also because I feel like it's likely we are stuck with him and don't want to pay to get rid of him. If some team basically just took him for free and we had cap space...it's a no brainer and most here would likely crown Rosas for it. Will they make a deal? I doubt it but now I'm wondering if there is a real chance.
If it's a team like the Knicks cavs, or suns, sure its a no brainer. But if its the raptors, spurs, or nets on the other line, I'm thinking long and hard.

Nope. It doesn't matter who wants Wiggins. Why? Because he will never blossom into a good player in Minnesota. That's the reality.

Absolutely agree that moving Wiggins for nothing or even getting something of value black is not "making a move to make a move." It would be a terrific move. That's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried about any number of other possible deals that might be short-sighted or involving giving up what I'd consider too much.

Like what?
Like giving up multiple future first round picks or unprotected 1st round picks and Okogie to clear space for Harris or even Russell. Worse yet, trading for Chris Paul. Not saying it's likely, but... The concern Crazy and I have is making deals just because you feel you need to make deals and failing to show the necessary patience. I don't know if that's likely at all, but that's the fear.

My point is that seems like a weird fear to express in a thread where Lowe basically said a front office person bet him Rosas and his front office is gonna (in our minds basically fleece someone) to move Wiggins.
I'm not downplaying your fear and obviously posting it here about whatever is on our minds is what we do. Thanks for the responses. We are gonna find out something interesting in a couple days I am sure. I agree aggressiveness can be a bad thing although I'll admit I'm probably too conservative. You can probably get away with that playing fantasy sports but the real thing it probably is good to take more chances.
We both like Okogie and you are higher on him than I am which is cool. The reality is someone could argue the Wolves don't have any really high level assets that actually project to be high level players. Covington I would say is a high level player now when healthy. The question about Covington is what to do with him either keep him or use him as a high level asset. On the other hand I always like to mention the old Bulls team that made a bunch of moves and it turned out they had a bunch of really good talent on their roster. Brad Miller, Artest, Elton Brand would have been a heck of a front court if they were the players they became later. That's the concern you are moving a guy like Miller or a more recent example Isaiah Thomas etc. I don't think we are looking to do something more obviously dumb like moving an young Elton Brand for a chance to draft some young kids that...probably won't be as good as Brand.
Let's say the Wolves really do have a chance to move Wiggins for a deal that basically gives a chance at one good player. Now it's probably not that hard to move Teague. I mean if Rosas and company are smart enough to find a taker for awigfins then Teague should t be a problem. Bobby Marks doesn't think it would be hard to find a team to take him. I don't always buy what Marks says but still. Dieng? Much tougher path but if that all that keeps us from getting Russell and Tobias Harris? DAMN...isn't that what you have been pining for good players that fit with Towns timeline? Tons of ifs there and I have doubts about all of this obviously but it seems like even having some sort of exploration of being able to do something like this seems weird...maybe refreshing...and yet terrifying. Lol
Here's my final thought on Lowe's report that the Wolves might fleece someone in deal for Wiggins: the chances of that happening are slim to none and slim's out of town.
