Robert Covington and Treveon Graham for Matisse Thybulle, Zhaire Smith and Mike Scott?
Similar to the deal I suggested in my post initiating this thread. The difference is that I had Atlanta's and the Knicks' 2020 2nd round picks coming to the Wolves with Smith had Scott, but not Thybulle. I really like Thybulle, but we have a need for another poor shooting defensive SG. On the other hand, Thybulle has been shooting well this season with the Sixers and he would be a valuable young asset for the Wolves. If we could get the deal you outlined, but also get the Atlanta and New York 2nd round picks, I'd do it. But I'd do it reluctantly because I like what Covington brings to the team and he's a great teammate. He struggled early, but you can see him returning to form the past few weeks.
Note that, if the season ended today, Atlanta would have the top pick in the 2nd round and New York would have the 3rd. So those picks will be highly valuable for getting good players and as trade assets on draft day.

And the only reason he can't (shouldn't) play the 4 when KAT is back is because of KAT. He and Dieng have been dominant defensively.
If we trade RoCo, we will basically need to replace him with someone with the exact same skills - a two-way defender/shooter than can play either forward spot.
Now if he helps us land our starting PG of the future, I'm all for it. Not sure that deal is out there though.
I agree with you. Also it's not like Roco is a free agent after the year. I feel like the wolves need to be blown away to make a trade. We don't need to trade him to just trade him, he has really come along this season and we have to remember he is close with Kat.

A lot of these teams that seemingly re-build multiple times before our eyes into winners while we wallow in constant rebuild do it while hanging onto a couple valuable vets in the process. RoCo is like the perfect vet to rebuild with because his contract is a bargain, he doesn't need the ball in his hands a ton, and he is a good all around guy. Plus he has two of the skills this team has so often lacked over the years wrapped into one player - defense and shooting.
Im okay with trading roco but we should not trade him for the sake of making a deal.
Remember that he was the main piece in the butler trade and his skills are in high demand around the league and his game ages well
So Im not in favor of trading him for unproven young guys like zhaire smith or others. The deal to be made is for disgrunted stars or top level guys. Same way the sixers got butler lst season.
Otherwise, just hold to him as his contract is team friendly and his skillsets fits around towns and wiggins.
If we can get a upside young player plus a high first or multiple 1sts then I do the deal for RoCo. I do like what I was hearing how RoCo has been helping Culver in practice. You really have to keep that part in mind too how have good vets helps the young guys come along. So yeah, I'm not selling RoCo low. I need a lot and A lot of contending teams want him too. It could be the decider =between championship for them or not. Make them pay big time.

The Wolves turned down 4 1st round picks plus players for Butler from Houston, but instead went with RoCo and Saric deal.
It all depends how high a first and how good the young prospect. Of course we couldn't get Ja Morant or anything, yes that is ridiculous. But let's not kid that we already have reports of multiple teams wanting his services, why? He is Elite defender and above avg 3 point shooter. That's what winning teams need. Ones that already have elite ball handlers/distributors need players like RoCo. Heck the Wolves could use 3 more players like RoCo themselves, but they can't find any!

See? He's banking on someone like Holiday blossoming into that next star.
Take a bunch of swings... hope one of them lands. Sure. Makes sense.
Probably the best way out is to strike gold on a young prospect. If it works... awesome! If it doesn't... well, it's a few years of kicking more cans down the road... and Rosas would be out anyway if he simply stuck with the status quo.
