Next Moves for the Wolves

The NBA is a superstar league and using the skills that the superstar does well in order to win games. You'll never be more then avg with avg players. KAT is perfect to build around with his elite floor spacing, it should be hard to not be a topp 10 offense with KAT, now go get the next Doncic (we screwed that one up by not trying to trade up) or Giannis or Kawhi (we past on those too) etc............

It's funny you say that. Yet the teams that actually have Doncic and Giannis don't need "the next KAT" to be really good. Why is that?

Giannis has a way better roster then KAT or do you like the Minny roster? Bucks could be a top 5 seed without Giannis while without KAT the Wolves would easily be the worst team in the NBA.

The Bucks were 4-6 without Giannis last season, so not sure about them being a top 5 seed without him. And yes, they do have a better roster than MN, but I'd argue that Giannis is a much easier pillar to build around. He's an outstanding 2-way player that can handle the ball and dictate the game on offense. You still need good players around him, but it's an easier job for a GM to build around a Giannis or Doncic than KAT.

The point remains you need multiple All Stars, not one. You'll never win it all with one guy. Toronto already made it to the eastern finals before Kawhi showed up. Even if you have two or three even then it's not enough. Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka or Butler, Embiid, Simmons, Harris.

The Wolves have KAT. That's it. lol

Dirk did win a Championship though too, and he was not a good defender at all. So maybe that is more hope for KAT. They did have very good players though too. Terry, Butler, Kidd, Chandler, Marion, Peja. All good players and shooters.

Trading towns now is silly and dumb. He is in year 1 of his fully guarantees 5 year deal! By all accounts, he wants to be here and prove himself here.

Give it 2-3 more years before you panic. Rosas built this roster for this season with no intention of making the playoffs. We were surprisingly in it the first 18 games and that got all our hopes up. Reality is setting in now.

Some are just pointing out the reality that it's inherently a lot more difficult to build around a premier big than it is a premier wing.



[Note: As for any such unlikely hypothetical trade, I'd be totally against it if it didn't include a marquee wing player (or at least a potential one... see James Harden/OKC). Trading Towns for draft picks would indeed set this franchise back decades.]

I agree that if KAT were to be traded we'd need a young emerging talent (or two) that is already pretty damn good but could have room for further upside + draft assets.

This is true. As much as Wiggins was ripped heading into the season... at the very least, he's done what even his detractors wanted. He's upped his trade value significantly.

Others might see him as more of a foundational piece, and they aren't entirely off base either... especially if he can build on this improvement and get better. The guy is capable of getting 25 ppg... just needs to do it efficiently long term.

For all the professional talk etc, Rosas is not looking that great so far in terms of his acquisitions. I hope his desire to put his stamp on this team doesn't end up making us even worse. So far he doesn't look like a great judge of talent. I know he will have at least two years to see his vision through but none of his acquisitions have yielded any fruit.

Wiggins was never as bad as people made him out to be, on the flip side he's not an all star. We need to win before all-star Wiggins comes out of my mouth.

Avg starting wing maybe. I'm not ready to go too far yet, like near All Star. He's in the top 100 NBA players now for sure.
