Yep, here's the deal though this our first year of our window. Look what the astros did they went got Verlander in year 2 of there window. This offseason will be huge for the twins they need to get an Ace. Then you hope Brusdar and Jordy Blaze can become the pitchers there thought to be. I'm not kidding when I say Brusdar has Strasburg type stuff. Hopefully he's fully healthy now because he might be a September call up if he's.

Supposedly he hit 101 on the radar gun in his first game back.

Personally I think a lot of the starting pitching supposedly available in trades gets somewhat overrated by fans that understandably want an upgrade. I really don't have a problem with the fact that they didn't go out and give up a ton to get a starter. Let's be honest...the pitching staff on this team isn't one starter away from being a contender. We are probably 1-2 starters (depending on how you view Odorizzi) and 2-3 more relievers even after what we did before the deadline. Could the Twins still make a run? Absolutely because you just never know especially if the offense is real and guys are healthy. If we are actually someone realistic like Jester said the right move might be a little later. The Astros became the team they were because of their young talent. I say keep building. It doesn't always work out but remember all the talk here about Kepler a few months ago? Dude has busted out with the bat and that contract they gave him looks like pure genius. Polonco is the real deal. Garver. Arraez looks like a legit hitter. Are you getting excited yet?

Looking more closely at the starters how would people have felt if we had added another guy like Kyle Gibson? He has basically had one month of 5 era and been pretty good the rest of the time. Pineda has dropped his ERA every month. Perez is the guy that's worrisome but we generally need 3 starters in the playoffs so we may be in decent shape there. The pen was the biggest worry and we added 2 guys that should be pretty big upgrades and may even improve another guy or 2 by their presence both scoring guys into better spots and being guys that can help less experienced pitchers. The Twins probably did the bare minimum but like I've said before I don't think they are done.

IMO the Twins offense will not replicate what they're doing this year. The window is now to take advantage of guys having big years. If this season isn't a year to make a move to bolster the pitching staff what season will be?

Your point has merit. As a counter just for fun...If there is going to be an offensive drop off from guys having career years then who is to say it won't happen a month from now? I'm not sure at see the offense dropping off next season. Sure Cruz will be older but is he going to just fall of the map? That's what was discussed when we signed him. Is it possible a couple younger players hit even better? What if Buxton actually plays 140 games and continues to look like a legit hitter at the plate? A healthy Sano from the jump? I don't think the offense is going away anytime soon.

Meanwhile the pitching...of course the Twins go out and get a good reliever and his first game he blows a game in spectacular fashion. Oh and Pineda had another plenty solid outing.

The only defense for not getting an ace in my eyes is there was not one to really be had. I worry the offense does go away to am extent. The team will have to pay for an ACE this off-season since most of the rotation is FA. Not sure who will be on the market, but if the right player is on the market though in FA.

I just disagree our division sucks. I've done it in other posts but Indians are going to be in financial hell her in 1-2 years your already seeing it by trading Bauer. I wouldn't be shocked if Kluber was traded in the offseason.

Why can't the replicate seasons there all entering there prime years. A lot of us think these guys are older than they're because they've been around so long.

Sano 26
Kepler 26
Buxton 25
Polanco 26
Arraez 22
Crohn 29
Garver 28
Rosario 27

I've been told by friends in the organization they tried for Greinke but he would not waive his no trade clause

That is what I thought. Did they also feel like they had more leverage on us then other teams and demanded more?

My only concern is Cruise and we could have guys getting better and have studs that could come up from the minors. I just think the Astros are in the driver's seat. I feel we played them very well and also feel if the matchups line up right they will knock out the Yankees for us.

Dyson has Shoulder surgery and it could keep him out till 2021. What's next for the Twins with him? Will they even keep him around next season? It's too bad...at least the guy has a hilarious cat to follow On Instagram.

Nick Anderson is a guy that got away. I was looking up Brian Schales the guy they got in the trade with the Marlins. It looks like he got hurt. Does anyone know anything? I couldn't find anything in a google search.

Meanwhile...did the rest of the league miss out on getting Andersen too? I mean was Schales a worthwhile prospect at the time? Did the Marlins get enough in giving up that guy at the trade deadline? If Anderson is the guy he has been this year for the next couple years...the Marlins probably didn't.

Remember when some people were losing their minds about Randy Rosario. He is with the Royals now after a meh 2nd season with the Cubs. You aren't going to win them all. Nick Anderson is a good story either way and the Twins did sign him and got him on his way to a magical season. Randy Dobnak is a hell of a story too. Sports can be fun seeing guys come out of nowhere to have success.
