Starting line up
Re: Starting line up
One thing about this starting lineup to me shows a bit of where this franchise sees Okogie as a possible future piece. The reality is though that he has played his way into this role as a better player in terms of impact than Graham. Better defensive numbers and he is averaging 8 rebounds a game per 36 mins. Graham's shooting has been a big somewhat unexpected problem and Okogie is simply a better player in terms of overall impact...except he will do more dumb stuff and Graham will do less stuff but less dumb stuff. Graham coming off the bench might be a good thing as they could use a guy like that.

McLaughlin
Reid
Nowell
Martin
The Iowa team has an unusually long break, with their last game being this past Monday and their next game not until Saturday. Whether anyone actually plays is TBD, but it gives them some practice reps with the main squad.
Lol, I noticed that Reid was called up and is now also on the injury report. I guess that's a big step in the young man's career. He made his first official NBA injury report...without even playing!

Not sure why the bench could use a guy like Graham (?). We are only making progress as a franchise when Graham is no longer needed at all. We should all hope someone from the G League mob eventually bumps him out of the rotation entirely.

Sure but that hasn't happened yet. He does everything he is supposed to do except make 3 point shots...well he has also struggled a bit lately finishing at the rim which was something he was doing fine at earlier in the season. Solid smart players that do what they are supposed to do have use especially because...right now it feels like that describes KBD more than anyone else that has been getting minutes off the bench. Hopefully Napier gets back into the swing of things and can make some positive impact. What's rough is right now ifI has to take one guy out of the rotation based on the past handful of games...it would be Teague. I haven't given up on him completely but it's been pretty rough. he has gotten to the FT line and made them.

Still not quite understanding what demonstrable value you are seeing in Graham. OK, so he's a good soldier and works hard, but that doesn't mean he's a good NBA basketball player. He has the worst net rating of all our regular rotation players, the worst PER, and the second worst WS/48 (behind Culver, who is slowly getting better). He's hurting us when he plays and I just don't see the value he brings at this point or how he somehow helps our bench.
Re: Starting line up
If Kat sits tonight, they might as well sit him on Sunday as well. No sense in playing in an unwinnable game, and then likely missing the second of the back to back against PHO.

Is see a above average defensive perimeter player (more asset than liability) that doesn't hurt you in doing bad things offensively except not being able to hit 3's. Some other stats worth considering. He has been a starter or significant rotation player for a surprise .500 team this year. He played a similar role last year for the Nets although at a mostly different position. Meanwhile this team has lacked tougher type players and Eagan brings some of that in addition he seems to actually not get called every time he puts a hand on a player. I'm not suggesting he is intractable or should stay in the rotation forever but I'm not buy they guy isn't useful at all. That's my position.

Re: Starting line up
The Graham signing was betting on that he returned closer to what he was 2-3 years ago, shooting wise. He's actually regressed and I think 20 games or so is enough to say, its a considerable issue now. Okogie can't shoot the 3 either though, so I'm not sure it's much of an upgrade. I think the odds are that Okogie won't become a good 3P shooter. I hope I am proven wrong.

I think Graham would be a little more valuable if we weren't already woefully short on shooters and he at least made ~ 33% or so of his 3's. I feel like our perimeter defense is actually pretty solid right now with the likes of Culver, Okogie, and RoCo. But it's hard to have a 4th guy in that rotation that can't shoot when two out of the three are already struggling from outside. And Okogie does a lot of other things better than Graham and Culver has more upside.

Re: Starting line up
I think it's a silly and stubborn decision. I also think this team could really begin to pile up the losses quite quickly. So, whatever.
