Teague, hell everyone would likely look better in a different system.

If its thibs, ill take tyus with rose off the bench. I want someone to get the team involved to start games.

You make a good point about getting others involved. I still think I'd give the nod to Rose over Tyus. Tyus hasn't shown me enough to start. Rose can be a ball hog and his passing isn't that great BUT he is hitting 3's at an amazing clip. With me picking Rose I am of course assuming he stays healthy and continues to play well.

Maybe, but that hasn't been the case in the few games he has been allowed to start in the NBA...his performance as a starter looks more like his performance at Duke. In the 11 games he started last season, he had better than a 4 to 1 TO/assist ratio and nearly 3 steals a game. This year in his 2 starts he has 6.5 assists per game against an absurdly low .5 TOs! He's not going to score much, but he has proven that he will get scorers involved, not turn the ball over, and play smart winning defense. Doesn't sound like a prescription for disaster to me.

I voted rose but this is a tough one. My ideal move is a trade or draft for a good PG who can shoot but focuses on running a team, and then I realized that those players don't typically exist anymore. Conley and Paul may be the only "true" pgs left in the game.

Then the conversation comes back to coaching.

It's a good poll to say how we feel now but we have 3/4 of a season for this to play out. It will be interesting to see how people feel 20 or 40 games from now. The reality is all 3 of these guys are worthwhile players in one sense or another. It's classic Wolves during time of success we may have to pick a PG...hopefully we make the right decisions.

There were a couple games in preseason Tyus looked like he couldn't play D against starting level guys. It must have been some sort of mirage because he has been pretty good during most of the regular season. That matters when considering him going forward regardless of his role. As a shooter scorer and even as a creator he has quite a ways to go but he can be an asset as a defender. It's pretty remarkable. I feel a lot better about a guy like him eventually figuring out how to be worthwhile on offense than somehow overcoming his physical issues as a defender. I'm not banking on him figuring it out on the other end just sayin.

Edit: it's possible we have nearly all 3 options available to us next year. Teague could opt in Rose resigns and we match or resign Tyus to a reasonable deal and draft a young PG. no way Tyus resigns here? Teague might only be here 1 more year and Rose...who knows. He turns 23 next offseason. All these guys have their flaws but having all 3 plus another young option to develop would give the team nice depth there plus ability to play one minutes at the other guard position. There are some worthwhile PGs that will be FAs also if that needs to happen.

There's a lot to like about the way this club has played since the trade, but this thread has me thinking about what one event could be most beneficial to the team right now to take them to the next level (other than replacing Thibs, of course). As much as I like Jeff Teague as a competitor, he doesn't seem to bring out the best in his teammates. So maybe the best thing that Thibs could do right now would be to trade Teague to a playoff team in need of a starting PG in exchange for an expiring contract . Although Thibs would likely move Rose into the starting PG spot, I would keep him where he is and put Tyus at starting PG and have Okogie back up Wig at SG. I think we might see improvement in both the 1st and 2nd teams, and find a way to get Okogie some minutes in a 9-man rotation. Rose's past injury adds some risk to this scenario, but we also will have Bayless as a backup if needed. Trade Teague!

(a minor ankle or knee tweak might serve the same purpose, but I can't bring myself to suggest that)

Ideally we need to move Teague before trade deadline. I'd be happy to get capspace in return. Otherwise we are stuck with him as our stating PG for another year.

Now I don't think Teagues a bad payer, but it's clear he's not a good fit with our starting lineup. And paying someone 19mil to come off the bench is a hard pill to swallow.

Ideally if we can move Teague or he opts out I'd want us to resign Rose to a 3 year deal 30 mil deal with a team option on the 3rd year. Tyus is an adequate backup and we could look to draft a PG next year to develop behind those two.

By the way what's the deal with trading a player if he's recently opted in to the last year of a contract? Is their any trade restrictions?

Rubio isn't the answer either. Let's call them up and see if they will give up another first round pick for a PG on a 1 year deal. That's kinda their thing. Lol

I would dangle Teague out there at the trade deadline too. Get an expiring deal.
