Rockets just getting crushed, 2nd blowout loss already at home.

IM not even sure what more they could offer to get that jimmy done unless they want to include a capela/dieng swap.

Seems like all the potential jimmy trading partners are going to get more desperate.

Yep. I have to give Cam his due for counseling patience. It would appear that our main potential trading partners, other than the Clippers, are struggling and should all be even more motivated to pursue a deal.

I'm no longer interested in a deal for Porter. He's not doing well so far this season and he doesn't have the ball-handling skills and versatility I like to see in a wing.

I'm still think the best deal would be one with Miami's structured around J. Richardson and the 2019 pick unless we can get Covington and Saric along with Miami's 2021 pick.

Already some good thoughts tonight.

It will be interesting to see if any teams get in a panic type situation. I didn't watch the game but the Hornets were up big on the Heat and it was never that close. Richardson got some buckets late int he game but he wasn't the guy that got them back within 10 or so earlier in the game. He was +5 to lead the team so..

Houston has to be thinking they need to do something. Chriss did at least play tonight. lol Nobody really seems to think the Rockets are gonna do the Gordon and picks for Butler...should be interesting to see what happens and yes Gordon had another pretty bad shooting night. I'd still take a chance on him if it meant getting all those picks...but its not my preferred deal. Hearing more about Chriss from people who have seen him play makes me think its a complete flyer and you might as well look at a guy that someone else gave up on a year from now than Chriss...especially since I don't think he is gonna play at all (so there would be little in the way of assessing his value) unless we have a slew of injuries.

I think Philly presents the best options in terms of players we get back with good contracts plus some sort of draft compensation. there are alot of folks both fans and the media types etc that are saying that Philly team isn't working right now and they should be going after Butler. I have no idea I haven't watched them but adding Butler would be a heck of a player to add to that squad in general. I don't know what they would actually be wiling to give up and how they view Butler as a guy to add to the mix.

As for the Wizards and Porter...I don't think the Wizards would actually trade for Butler...because that team is kind of a mess. Why would Butler resign there?

I think the Grizzlies could come into play. Theu play a brand of basketball that suits jimmy. If they think they can continue winning, adding jimmy to an older core of gasol abd conley might give them the push they need to include jackson.

With okogies emergence, id like to see a good young pf on this team.

Houston loses by 19 to Portland. All 5 starters played at least 30 minutes in what was basically a blowout. Chris Paul played 37 minutes. Why? D'Antoni and Thibs apparently know something we don't. lol As weird as Thibs is with his minutes...its less surprising. D'Antoni on the other hand I don't get it especially from an organization like the Rockets.

CC - As you know, my top preference for a Butler deal, dating back to the draft, has been dealing him to the Grizzlies for Jaren Jackson. We'd probably have to take back Parsons for salary purposes. But getting a talent like Jackson would be worth it. I've always thought the Grizzlies would want Butler. They have a limited window for contending given the age of Conley and Gasol. And the fact that the Grizzlies have gotten off to a pretty good start this season could motivate them to deal Jackson for Butler as a "go-for-it" move to be competitive this season. However, the Grizzlies' reservation might be concern about whether he'd re-sign there.

I wonder if Houston would look to deal Capela. A few weeks ago, I would have said no way. Now, not sure.

Deal:
Hou gets: Butler / Dieng
MN gets: Capela / Knight / Chriss / 2 - 1sts (2019, 2021)

I don't think the Rockets would deal Capela but he can't be traded till Jan 15th.

FWIW and I'm not angling that hard for this deal but Gordon, Nene and Chriss add up to almost exactly Butler's salary. It would be a pretty decent chunk of 2019 money to take on for 2019 but I think there are ways the Wolves could stay below the tax without giving up draft assets to do so.

If we're forced to maneuver to stay below the cap next season, I'd rather be forced by acquiring Troy Johnson or Whiteside from Miami than those three from Houston. And I'd prefer not to face Butler multiple times against a Western Conference team each year. For me, the only way a deal with Houston is palatable is if all four picks are unprotected. Then it doesn't much matter who we get back because I don't see any of the players we're likely to get back having a significant positive impact on this team, especially after this season.
