Re: Butler requests trade...
Maybe the answer is somewhere in this thread, but I just thought I would ask. There are several reports that Butler is adamant in his decision not to return (even though Thibs keeps asking him). Has Jimmy given a concise answer as to why he feels so strongly about this? There are rumors that he doesn't respect the young guys, or maybe he's one of the many guys in the league that doesn't want to play for our head coach. It's not about money because we can pay him more than any other team, and it certainly can't be about winning because the 3 teams he indicated an interest in won't be good for awhile. Usually when a player requests a trade, there is either a stated or obvious reason for the request. What is it in this case, and can someone point me toward where Jimmy said it?

I don't think it has been explicitly stated. Jon K said the message from the team was it was mainly contractual. If you look at his list of teams this makes the most sense. He wants a supermax and if Wiggins and KAT have them it wasn't a no-brainer to give him 5 @ 190. I assume when Jimmy realized he wasn't definitely getting a supermax here he wanted out, or he always just wanted a supermax somewhere else. The funny thing is if it was all about money he would have been a lot better off communicating this demand much earlier. Not sure Jimmy is as bright as he thinks he is.

I'm not sure we will ever get crystal clear clarity on his reasons. But I do think its a combination of the things already mentioned (money, team mates, market size) versus just a single issue or sticking point.

I'm sure that's at least part of it. Caused a breakup for KAT.

Who wasn't? :)
I read that Butler called Taylor crying about Thibs not pushing hard enough for a trade. If I am Taylor I tell Butler to piss off, and I also starting fining him for missing practice. Butler caused this whole mess, and I guess he will have to deal with. I am hoping it takes at a couple of months to get things figured out.
I don't know why some of you are setting your sights so low. It is Jimmy Butler, and he wanted to be traded so he could sign a 5 year deal rather than 4. That doesn't sound like a guy that is a one year rental for his next team.
I am also reading that Thibs/Layden are still dragging their feet according to other teams, but isn't that just sending a message that the deals need to be better.
How about SAC asking for a first round pick to take on a contract, but only have 11 mil in space. We might be lucky to get a first included in the deal, so why would we send it to them?
This is damn good entertainment? I am just goiing to follow the team in the off season, and say screw the games.

Re: Butler requests trade...
Towns shot down the girlfriend rumor, for what it's worth. He called it fake news. Could be saving face and trying to avoid potential embarrassment, but I'm not sure Butler's that kind of guy. Plus, he has no trouble getting women. Would be strange to focus on a teammate's girlfriend knowing the potential ramifications.
Re: Butler requests trade...
Sounds like the main reason was that Butler didn't get his own way in a playoff game then decided to quit on the team. Now he's too prideful to own up to being a quitter.
