If we Absolutely HAD to give him that 5 year 190 million contract to keep him...I would have been on that bandwagon. I was hopeful we wouldn't have to go that much or that long. Sigh.

Jimmy slept with KATs girlfriend?

I'm sure it's just a culture thing.

It better be a personal issue like Jimmy hooking up with his girl otherwise KAT comes off looking like a big soft baby. "They're ganging up on me and telling me to play defense and care about more than just my stats". Sounds like a great leader of the next regime.

I'm sure it's a personal issue. I'm just saying the apologists are likely to just say this type of thing happens all the time in the league, and therefore it's okay.

I responded earlier that Towns himself responded to the article posted on Twitter with laughing emogies and "Fake news" he has been pretty silent so far so I'd guess this isn't legit. I do think there is something personal between the 2 though. Butler could have even just said something about this girlfriend (or ex girlfriend) to Towns that crosses the line. It could have been something else too.

The best hope is that Glen and Thibs basically play good cop bad cop and get something good back from Butler. (Let me have some optimism here) It seems like from what people are reporting on Twitter there is a market for him. How good? Idk but you can bet teams are figuring out right now what they are going to offer...and then be willing to give up. I just don't see any way Butler isn't traded. It's gonna happen. Who is the person in charge when it happens? That's more up in the air.

I hope as Lip suggested that Glen is just getting his ducks in a row and covering himself for when he drops the axe on Thibs. I mean any normal person with half a brain can see that a) Butler needs to go, b) Thibs should not be entrusted with making the deal, and c) Thibs should be shown the door first. I mean, am i missing something here?

I agree completely. I think it's important for Taylor or laden to have a meeting with KAT and discuss what they can do to get him to sign the contract extension before the start of the season. If agreeing to not re-sign Butler is enough or if they actually have to move him before KAT considers it.

It sounds like it might be advantageous for us to hold onto Butler for at least a couple of months for trade value. The benefit of that is making sure he can't get a five-year deal from another team next season.

I get the logic but he's likely to get hurt again. The situation is too toxic unless he stays away from the team.

Story filed to ESPN: As Minnesota's front office tells inquiring rivals that team has no plans to trade Jimmy Butler, owner Glen Taylor had a different message at NBA's Board of Governors meetings: Butler is available and owners/GM's should contact Taylor himself if necessary.

I'm so sick of Taylor. Just fire thibs. If you don't trust him to make the trade then fire him. Taylor says he is the one to make the trade and that is pathetic. He probably doesn't want to pay thibs and another coach

Thanks Monster, best news I've heard since this drama started.

I'm sure he has an advisor(s) working on this with him.
