Yep he makes 19 million the next 2 years but turned 26 in May and has a rep of a guy that plays hard. He was a key contributor for a team that won 44 games last year. If he could push Rose down the depth chart...lol I would rather have Johnson for 2 years 19 per than Dieng and his 3 years 48 million so that's how I'm looking at it and to me that could be a positive move on the court and save salary the 3rd year. It's possible he could be part of something long term as a rotation guy and there is a bit of possible upside yet. Adding Johnson would also make Teague more moveable because we would have someone decent to play minutes at that spot.

I agree that getting Tyler for Gorgui would be a plus for the Wolves. But I don't see that happening unless the Wolves are also willing to forgo either Richardson or Bam. I'd rather keep Gorgui than muck up our chances of getting both Richardson and Bam. That's a easy choice for me. Unfortunately, I think the Wolves front office is stuck on including Gorgui in any Butler deal.

To me this seems like a creative way to add a younger possibly worthwhile player to the Wolves. I have real doubts Riley is dying to keep Johnson around. This seems like a way to get something in addition to one asset of Richardson or Bam in addition to a first round pick. Keep in mind Miami would actually save some lux tax next season having Dieng instead of Johnson. For me it's less about dumping Dieng and getting a more interesting player in return.

Taylor clearly has no idea what he is doing as usual. I think there is logic on both perspectives i.e. fire him now, fire him later. But instead he kept him on and said to the whole league "call me". This was wrong on any front because it takes no position and allows the whole league to see weakness. As long as he owns this team nothing positive will happen because he is going to be continued to be perceived as an old school owner who cares more for the interests of the owners rather than the league as a whole. He needs to sell and move on.

I'm guessing Glen isn't gonna sell tomorrow but you do have to wonder if some of the tough times of the last few months makes him tired of all this and sell in the near future. I'm sure he is gonna want to get things back on track to some extent before he sells. Honestly if he is thinking he might be done the next few months would make a lot of sense to do so. Another owner could come in and choose his GM and coach etc. Another option would be for Glen to look for another guy to buy in and ride along and take over like he was planning to do with Kaplan...who is no longer part of the ownership of the Grizzlies now that He was bought out by Pera. Anywho just another layer of interest with this franchise. Yay!

Anthony Chiang: Heat announce Josh Richardson will miss third consecutive game with left thigh contusion. Plan was for him to try to play Friday vs. Wizards, but he will instead sit out again tonight.

Bam isn't suited up either.

Have to wonder?

But I'm sure it'll be reported that neither of them are available for trade. Apparently the Clippers won't make Tobias Harris available either. Right. The media is so stupid.

Let Jimmy sit out the whole year. Seriously, this team is not gonna compete anyway.

This makes a lot of sense and I would be all for it. https://hoopshype.com/2018/10/05/jimmy-butler-trade-rumors-washington-wizards-otto-porter-jr/

Interesting. It made me wonder if Wiggins was not with the Wolves if we would be happy trading Butler for Wiggins on his current deal.

From a team, prospective Porter would be a good fit. I think Wiggins is better at SG and Porter could slide to PF in small ball lineups.

Not one team would be happy about having Andrew Wiggins on their team with the contract he's locked into. The reason for that is because his production and progression as a player just aren't there. He hasn't shown that he's a positive force on the court nor has he shown tangible, individual improvement in his game.

The same cannot be said for Otto Porter. Porter is arguably the best 3/D wing - stretch-big in the game with some creating the "super role player" label for him. He does it all on the court being an efficient scorer, above average rebounder, good defender, and an elite three-point shooter. Below are his stats from last season:

2017-18: 77 G, 31.3 mpg, 14.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.5 spg, 0.5 bpg, 50.3 FG%, 44.1 3P%, 82.8 FT%, 58.1 eFG%

I've mentioned this before, but I don't think Porter's hit his ceiling either. He's still just 24-years old and every single season he's shown growth and improvement. Not to mention, when John Wall went out due to left knee surgery in late January, Porter stepped up in a big way. He averaged 19.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and shot 55.1 percent over the next 18 games.

Porter is the anti-Wiggins and there's an argument that he has justified his max contract. Wiggins, on the other hand, is showing that paying him that much money was not only undeserved, but a terrible front office move. He has one of the worst contracts in all of basketball. I do not think you can draw any parallels with these two except that they were both high draft picks and clearly one of these two -- Wiggins, ahem -- have not lived up to the hype.
