Worth bumping now? I'll put money that Rubio shoots above 36% from 3 next year on another team.

I thought I'd post this here to put Ricky's agent change in some perspective:

"A lawsuit that pits one of the most recognizable basketball agents up against his former agency was originally filed in state court in California, but has been removed to federal court; however, the agency is fighting to have the removal overturned. In the meantime, Independent Sports & Entertainment's (ISE) litigation against Dan Fegan over the alleged poisoning of ISE's business is only getting dirtier by the day, with both sides recently filing multiple declarations for use against each other that provides a glimpse of the sometimes filthy world of athlete representation.

Fegan's declaration notes that he has been an NBA Player Agent for roughly twenty-five years without interruption and that ISE's lawsuit is an attempt to prevent him, for the first time, from representing NBA players, thirty of whom are currently signed to Fegan. Additionally, Fegan says that between March 11 and 12, five NBA players terminated him and switched to ISE, and on March 16, a sixth player fired him.

The only purpose of Kohlman's declaration is to advise the Court of the NBPA's position that the Court's prior order granting a temporary restraining order against Fegan is inconsistent with the exclusive bargaining authority of the NBPA under federal labor law. Kohlman's belief is that only the NBPA has the authority, under federal labor law, to determine whether Fegan may or may not serve as a fiduciary for NBA players. As such, he is asking the Court to refrain from further limiting Fegan's ability to practice as an NBA Player Agent."

Doogie gets an email purportedly saying that Rick hired a new agent to facilitate a trade. Well, could be that Ricky didn't want to stay with an agent facing a lawsuit that seeks to put him out of business and who has already been hit with a temporary restraining order. As of early April, the date of the article I copied, 6 clients had switched from or fired Fegan. Maybe they all wanted a new agent to get them traded away from their teams. At some point a story needs more than just the desire to believe it. So far the "Ricky wants out" story has no solid basis and runs counter to what Minnesota's more reliable NBA reporter (Jon K) has reported. And guess what. Ricky is one of many fleeing from an agent operating under a serious legal cloud.

It's worthwhile to bring that issue up Lip.

Wolfson tweeted that Casspi also left Fegan.

I think it's fair to bring up Fagan's lawsuit too. But Lip you are saying that your hunch is as likely as Doogies source, which may be true but is a bold assertion. In my mind if the lawsuit was the reason for the switch then that info would have been sourced as the reason right away since there's only upside to Rubio making the move for that reason. I still think the more likely answer is that he left because Fagan wasn't getting something done that Ricky wanted. Maybe the lawsuit didn't give Fagan enough time to help Ricky leave. Time will tell I guess but this is certainly more smoke to the fire.
