Hey, 2nd ain't bad

Well, there's that thing behind his ear. Have we discussed that lately?

Getting the named splashy guy is fun at the time of the hire, but it's not always the best move. I don't know what the best move is. I'm also sure it won't be a big name coach that will bring a lot of fan fare. I wonder if Malone would be the best move.
That's an interesting take and a great point.
Along the lines of what you posted above I'll add here that while I love Freddie I am not convinced he will be a smashing success at the NBA level but I will be hoping he does well. At least he is in the eastern conference.
I will also say that imo the Chicago job is better than the Wolves job. Sure we are young nice group of talent etc but the Bulls have some nice young talent and happen to have some really good other players besides that. They are literally a contender. The Wolves haven't had a winning season since Hoiberg was playing right? Consider that the Bulls have recently done a pretty good job of drafting players so they may continue to add to what they already have. Hoiberg may even have some affinity for McBuckets. He has strong ties to people in both franchises and they are fairly close to his hometown Ames which is likely nice for him even if he is pretty busy during the season and even the offseason.
I think Fred couldn't keep turning down terrific offers from NBA teams dying to get him. I'm sure he had considered NBA coach as an option at some point in his post playing career but I think if teams hadn't come calling like they did maybe he never leaves Ames cause that was a dream gig for him too.
It will be interesting to see who Iowa State gets as their coach. With the talent level Fred is leaving them and his success I would think it's pretty attractive job.

I read a rumor that Hornacek might be next Iowa state coach. Might be just a wild guess. If he is fired from Phoenix, I would like to see Flip hiring him.

I like Hoiberg and will be pulling for him. Still stings that he wont' be coaching here. It probably will feel better when/if we start winning or land a new coach we wanted.

He would be a very enticing hire here. But why would he be fired from Phoenix? I haven't heard anything to that effect.

Iowa State hired Steve Prohm from Murry State. Seems like a pretty good hire he had a lot of success and was Isaih Caan's head coach and Cameron Payne will be a first round pick this year.
