I don't see any vets coming to MN for anything less than the MLE. We won 16 games last year. They can make small salaries on good teams. Why would they do it on a bad team? It's money or playoffs for the most part and we can't really offer either this summer. I'd stand pat, try to offload Pek, Martin and Bud and use the big bump in cap next off season to try to make a big splash. Next year should also finish Bennett's deal unless he starts the year on fire so he, Bud and Martin would be a lot of money off the books if it could get done. I think I'd just go bonkers and offer the Nets Pek, Martin, Bud and AB for Joe Johnson and Teletovic.

After signing KG and our first round pick, we'll have 12 roster players under contract next season. We will also have the rights to Hamilton and Hummel. I'd be surprised if Flip doesn't sign and keep at least of of those two. That will bring the number of roster players to 13.

So absent a trade, we will likely have only 2 open roster spots for next season assuming we don't keep either of our two second round picks. And we won't have any cap space. Therefore, we will have three options to fill those two slots via free agency: (1) the MLE of around $5.3 million per year; (2) the LLE of around $2 million per year., which can only be used in alternate years. (3) the vet minimum.

I just don't see the need to overpay a marginal player. Maybe next offseason we could go out and get someone, but there is no need to add bad contracts to a young team who most likely won't be in contention for a playoff spot anyways.

I can't wait for the Wolves to overpay KG.

Volans, my comment was based on that I believe we'll make a trade or two to open up some cap room (i.e. trading Chase or AB). Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but I don't see how we add Bjelica, re-sign KG, keep Bennett, Pekovic, Payne, and add a big in the draft. I am predicting Bennett as the odd man out, but we'll see.

I would still like to try sign Cory Joseph from Spurs. He is not much of shooter but he is very good defender (both team Drtg 98.3 and it is not just that he is playing for Spurs since Parker has Drtg 102 and Belinelli 105. He is also good individual defender, holding his man at PG position .432 eFG stat from 82games.com) and he is good at driving and finishing at rim.

Even thought he has improved every season and his minutes have increased in each regular season he has played, he didn't get much minutes at playoffs this season. It seems that they played Patty Mills as Parkers backup instead of. So it might be possible to get him sign for Minnesota, if he believes that it would be better opportunity for him. I think he could be probably signed for around 3 million per season.

I just don't want any long term contracts past 2 years. I hope we can get Bjelica over here or maybe package him with Martin for another piece.
