Re: Young for Garnett trade discussed
I hate this deal.
New tidbit, though. Flip wants to extend KG for two more years. Apparently KG is aware of that plan. Yippee. 38-year old KG comes home,
We have essentially traded two first round picks for 38-year old KG and a 24-year old rookie Adreian Payne. Wowza.
(Will be happy if we're able to dump Budinger on Philly)

What's ironic is that Thad might just be the type of player we target in a trade or free agency a year or two from now when we're looking for a young-ish veteran PF that can guard small-ball 4's.
It's really a shame we couldn't figure out a way to hang onto Thad and ultimately restructure his deal to a more reasonable salary. He was young enough and good enough to be a part of our core group for the next 5+ years.

Who needs that when you can add 38-year old Kevin Garnett. Did I mention we have Bennett and Payne at power forward? I'm giddy...

And I'm thrilled with Thad for Young. It's the right thing to do for many, many reasons. Don't know if we win more games this year or less. But considering everyone's predictions for roughly 8 more wins, it can't get much worse!
How can they afford him? Klay is going to get a max this offseason. They still have Lee, Curry, Bogut and AI on big deals. I don't see them matching anything over 10 million for Green. They just can't afford it because they'll have a Brooklyn tax number if they do. Is Green going to be worth the 10's of millions of tax dollars it would cost to keep him?
Lee is the wild card, right?
GSW doesn't want/need him. But he's paid a lot.
Lee should be tradable so they can clear some space.

Seriously that Heat pick just keeps getting better.

No doubt taking Young instead of the 1st is something we wish we could do over. But that should not reflect on the Young for KG trade...

I agree, but just seems like that we got cursed in that deal.

I didn't want to start a new thread, and bumping this for re-living some of the negativity on the trade tickled my funny bone...
Flip said they originally tried to get KG as part of the Love deal. It seems Young turned out to be Plan B. So now Flip managed to get the deal he originally wanted, 6 months later!

I am still for getting KG for Young. Now I hope I eat crow for the Payne trade. (I will go back to current market prices a the time of the trade suggested we gave to much though)
