should I be outraged by this? nah, I like having kg around for a couple more years. And honestly, I have no concept of player value anymore

If KG is healthy, your getting leadership, intensity and a big who can still tangle with any other big in the league. Even a beast like M. Gasol couldn't just bang KG around last year, his defense is still strong! He's the best player in team history, his loyalty to MN can't be matched. When young players see how well MN has treated him they may follow suit and also be loyal to MN. When your #1 pick says it will be an honor to learn from a legend like KG, you start to realize his value is much more than 20 minutes a night.

There seems to be executives around the league that have no concept of player value either.

What's funny is that this is pretty much the EXACT same type of deal Khan gave Brandon Roy a couple years back.. Except everybody gave Khan shit for it, and everybody loves this because it's KG and Flip.
IT'S THE EXACT SAME SITUATION!

Except I'm fairly certain KG wasn't actually injured enough to sit out last year, and it was mostly a ruse. KG can still play the game even when he loses some of his athleticism. Roy was useless in every facet. Couldn't shoot, play defense, run, or jump. The only positive in the Roy deal other than the injury out was making Portland have to pay him his salary instead of insurance haha.

Exactly the same, except there isn't even a rumor that KG's season ending "injury" is career threatening nor did it require him to sit out a season. So yeah, it's EXACTLY the same, figuratively speaking.

I'm not saying it's a good deal, but it's certainly more valuable than the Roy deal you're referencing. I would have preferred we sign KG for 1-2 years at 3-5MM per. That would be more reasonable given the amount of time he'll actually see the floor, but by signing him for more it does absolutely nothing to our salary cap situation this year or next.

There is value in showing loyalty to what has been the franchises best player to date. It shows the kids that loyalty goes both ways and its a short term deal. Take next years bump in cap and it will look even better. Comparing to B-Roy is a joke and total disrespect to the player that KG is.
