Afflalo's weaknesses, including his shaky ballhandling have been exposed since going to Orlando and getting starter minutes. I don't want Gallo's bad knee and the #11 pick doesn't excite me. I'd prefer the rumored Celtic deal bringing us the #6 pick, Olynyk and other assets.

Afflalo played much better in his second season in Orlando.
18.8 / 3.7 / 3.5 / 46%

But a trade for Afflalo is about 16 months too late. He'd have been huge for the Wolves last season. I think he's a better asset than Kevin Martin.

And as Camden notes... what would Orlando receive for him? Shirley, his value is more than Budinger, Arthur and a throwaway pick.

Orlando is a lock to take either Smart of Exum in the draft. With Oladipo already taking a spot in the back court and Nelson being a 9 mil expiring it seems that Afflalo and his contract with 2 years left on it is the odd one out. I'm not saying it's a bad contract, but I think ORL priority will be giving their young guys as much burn as possible. Arthur's an expiring and Bud's is the same length as Afflalo's but 3 mil less per season. Even the 40th pick in this years draft is no throwaway with guys like the Greek freaks brother bracketed there in most mocks.

That's true, his value is higher, and stop calling me Shirley. (glad I got that in before anybody else). Nice set up Abe.

Cam - I think Orlando would love to get rid of Afflalo's contract and have Oladipo step in as their starting SG. I don't like the value for the Wolves. Denver is the only team that seems to hit the jackpot with this deal. I'll venture a guess that Flip is not a big Afflalo fan, but that's just a guess. Flip could have pursued Afflalo last summer, but didn't.

Abe -- You're right that Afflalo's numbers in Orlando were much better his second season there. But his play really slipped the last third of the season. I've always been an Affllalo fan and I remember posting last summer that we should attempt to trade for him in lieu of signing a FA like Martin. I still like Afflalo better than Martin if combined with Ricky AND Love. He would have fit fairly well on last year's team and been the sort of two-way player we needed with Love as our main offensive weapon. However, as a key acquisition in exchange for Kevin Love, getting Afflalo with Faried and the other named assets seems woefully inadequate.

If AA is attainable without Love which that offer looks like he could be, why wouldn't we get him and keep Love for the season. That bolster's the bench by moving Martin out of the starting 5 and gives us a two-way starting 2. Take Payne or Ennis to fill another hole and file the lone hole with a MLE guy.

Ricky/Ennis
AA/Martin
Bazz/Brewer
Love/MLE (my hope is McBob or Blatche)
Pek/Dieng

That's a very good team in my opinion and would send a clear signal to Love that we are trying to win here with him now. I know Love is probably gone, but that is a pretty good last hoorah to try to keep him here if that is what Flip is hoping for.

At this point, if Golden State doesn't throw in a 3rd player, it looks like Denver has the best offer. Faried, Afflalo & Chandler wouldn't be a bad return IMO considering the circumstances. Plus, they probably wouldn't have to throw in Martin or take on that horrible David Lee contract.

Any deal involving denver should INCLUDE Gallinari. He maybe coming off an acl tear but he is the best player we could get from denver. Better than affalo, chandler and faried.

Gallo, faried, arthur and the 11th for love. Dont take aa instead of gallo.

I don't understand how we'd be getting Afflalo in a Denver deal. What are they giving Orlando that nets them Afflalo to give to us?
