Yeah it makes sense and Keenum is cheap and decent as a backup. You have to wonder though how the Vikings view this season compared to last year where they were clearly looking to win it all. Are they looking at themselves as a championship or bust team or are they stepping back a little and consider developing some young players if they seem worthwhile. Teddy and Bradford aren't exactly sure things to be contributing on the roster a year from now so taking a shot at a young QB if they are promising wouldn't be the dumbest thing ever. It's a really tricky situation with Teddy's injury and Bradford's contract plus they gave up a lot to bring him here and his OC has been with him at 3 different NFL teams.
Well I think they are going for it again this year. Mainly because the Superbowl is here.
Honestly if few things happen:
1. Our young CB's step up
2. OL stays healthy and the new guys perform like they did in 2015
3. We draft a DT that can start day one
4. We can replace Greenway
5. Bradford doesn't get hurt
6. Good Overall team health

Harrison Smith can't get hurt for a significant stretch or when it matters. Not a knock on him just saying how important he is.
I agree you are probably right they are looking to go to the Super Bowl especially with it being in MN. It feels to me like they are approaching it from a bit of a different way than they have in the past. They have gone outside the organization more, let some of their own guys leave and idk it just feels like a different vibe. Maybe it's not but it feels that way to me.
It is just different not having Greenway and Peterson on the team. It will be interesting. I think both are replaceable at this point. The secondary worries me a lot. Losing Captain was a big deal. The OL should be a ton better.
I will be curious what they do at 48th pick. I think they go DT or OL. I could see them going Mixon if he is on the board.
We just don't need another young WR on this team. Diggs, Thielen and Treadwell are all young. If you need a WR sign one. Get youth elsewhere on the team this year.

I agree. We certainly shouldn't make it a priority.

Agreed. I don't get the whole idea the Vikings need to make WR a priority put forth by fans and draft folks. The old fart WR on the team is Wright and he turns 28 in November.
After reading that and I think behind DL, DB, and RB this might be a biggest area of need. Kyle Rudolph doesn't seem to be a guy you can count on to always be healthy so it makes sense to draft a TE in a strong TE draft.

Rudolph has played all 16 games the last 2 years. I'm not suggesting he is a lock to stay healthy but if you want to say he isnt reliable to stay healthy there are other guys we should be drafting to put depth behind as well. For example sadly Harrison smith comes to mind. The Vikings have historically loved TEs and this article points out there isn't much proven depth there and they supposedly offered Cook a healthy chunk of money to come here so yeah TE is an area they are going to look at adding in the draft.
