Vet PG who do you want?
Re: Vet PG who do you want?
2 players we should target with our trade exception.
1. DJ Augustine. Okc looking to shed salary. Competent backup. Played very well as emergency starter for the bulls a few seasons ago when rose went down. My first choice.
2. Mario Chalmers. A 3 and D pg.
Both have 1 yr left on deals.

I like option number 1.

Best point guards that might be available: Ty Lawson (if he's cut or Denver likes Pek), Darren Collison (Sac signed Rondo), Jarrett Jack, Mario Chalmers, DJ Augustin, Devin Harris/Raymond Felton (log jam after Deron Williams goes to Dallas)

Do you think that Jarrett Jack is still available even after Deron Williams was released? Shane Larkin is the only other point guard in Brooklyn's roster now and since they cannot tank because they have traded their 1st round picks to Boston, they cannot start season with Larkin as a starter.
Re: Vet PG who do you want?
Augustine and Vasquez could both play the role and they both have expiring contracts . . . . don't know that we can get Vasquez

I highly doubt that Milwaukee would trade Vasquez because they just traded 2017 1st round pick for him. I don't fully understand why they paid that high price about vet point guard in his last year of contract.

That was surprising to me as well.
Re: Vet PG who do you want?
I don't think OKC is looking to move DJ. He makes 3 million and I know they are in Lux tax but would they be able to sign a vet PG they like as much as him for the vet min? They are contenders that paid up for Kanter I think this year they are all in within reason and paying a couple extra million for DJ makes sense. He is still youngish durable hits the 3 at a good rate and played with Durant in college. They can't afford to be cheap this season they want to do what they can to keep Durant. I don't think they are gonna rely on a rookie as their backup PG.
I will also add nobody wants Felton Dallas can't give him away. I wouldn't be surprised if they just cut him I don't think he factors into the depth at the position. They signed Harris for a reason they like him a lot and they should he is a nice player. He is a good compliment to Deron Williams and JJ.

Maybe Milwaukee thought that they need such badly some outside shooting. After trading Ilyasova and Knight and losing Dudley through free agency, they had only Mayo and Middleton left as three point threath. Still I think they paid way too high price about Vasquez.
