So... 80 mil per year over 5 would be 16/yr. That's insane for Thompson. I'm sorry but that money should be going to Mozgov. Even in the new cap era this is an overpay for Thompson IMO.
I can't wait for the reaction to the next team looking for tax dollars for their new arena.
Alex - I get it and I admit. I am not a KLove fan. I just don't see him as the player that will draw others in. I don't think Wiggins is that guy either btw. Wiggins just seems more of a quiet guy. (same for Shabazz) I could certainly see Rubio, Towns, and LaVine being those type of players.

@WojYahooNBA: Restricted free agent Kyle Singler has agreed to a five-year, nearly $25M extension with Oklahoma City, league source tells Yahoo Sports.
What do people think of Singler? Good 3 point shooter by the percentages maybe that's all that realy matters? What 2 point shots was he taking the last couple years? Yikes!! Lol
16 million for a backup is insane. They have to pray someone takes Varejao off their hands or they are looking at an almost 60 million dollar frontcourt next off season for 4 guys. I get that TT is Lebron's guy, but they can't afford to keep all 4 and they basically just made TT untradeable with that deal because he's not worth anything close to it. Frankly I'm glad we're not a player this off season because most everybody is making terrible deals regardless of the cap going up.

Thompson has the same agent as LeBron James.
And by all reports, James like Thompson.
So there you have it...
Yeah for sure, but this means the Cavs will have somewhere near 50-55MM tied up in Love, Mozgov, Thompson,a nd Varejao next season. Varejao will be a pseudo-expiring contract because of his team option in 2017, but i don't think they are going to have any flexibility. People sometimes forget the MLE/LLE are not linked to a percentage of the cap, so middle of the road players are not likely to sign for MLE/LLE money, when uncapped teams can offer so much more. That's the type of weapon a cap strapped team used to be able to employ to get quality depth, but in this transition period i don't think it will be as valuable.

Agreed
Just remember AV is also Lebron's guy he isn't going anywhere. I wish Inwas Lebron's guy I could get PAID. In fairness all those guy can play ball I can't. Lol
Anyone know how AD's deal was legal? He's coming off a rookie deal and I thought the most you could offer a guy was 30% of the existing cap. Doesn't this make him the highest paid player in the NBA this year at 29 million/year? Am I missing something?
