There are fewer unrestricted free agents next year and the cap goes up. The elite will of course get max contracts. The biggest name is KD. The other big names include Horford, Al Jefferson, Mike Conley, Noah, Batum, Ryan Anderson, Mozgov, Jennings, Hassan Whiteside, Chandler Parsons (P), Derozan (ETO) Dwight Howard (ETO) and Deron Williams (ETO).

I don't think we have a prayer of signing KD unless we signed Scott Brooks as coach but it would still be a huge longshot despite KD's support for him. I'd put OKC, Washington and then Dallas as the favorites. Horford would be great and maybe Karl as his Dominican teammate gives us a chance he'd consider us, but its still a huge longshot. One guy I think we might have a realistic shot would be Batum since he signed with us before. The question is with Wiggins and Lavine on the roster would our front office still want him given his recent injuries. If he's healthy next year, I'd absolutely consider him as we'd have two of the top two way wings in the game and Zach could still get his minutes as a bench scorer. The other guy I could see us maybe wanting would be Ryan Anderson. If healthy, he's one of the best three point shooters in the game and can rebound. Of course there are lesser names that we might want to fill in our roster with like Courtney Lee or Mario Chalmers.

Man, the cavs have open up their wallet big time. 5yr 108m for love.5yr 80+m for tristan. 5yr 90m for kyrie. 4yr 40m for shumpert! Factor in lebron probably sign for 1 yr near 30m. Then they still got varejao for near 10m and mozgov at near 5m but will be a free agent the next year and they still have yet to resign or replace two rotation guys in smith and delly. They would still need to add a quality backup pg. Thats a lot of money that they just spend.

If the suns dont get aldrige then I feel they will regret signing chandler. They have a rising center in alex len that do pretty much what chandler does. They probably think they can trade chandler in the future with the cap skyrocketing.

Yeah that Shumpert contract was one of the real eyebrow raising moves of the day. Zach Lowe said he figured that's what he would sign for on the market but idk about that. His whole finals run was a disaster and he has almost no offensive game. I was thinking he would get maybe $7M per year but if the Cavs are going nuts with their money than why not.

In a way, Im glad that we don't have money to spend this off season and we have our young and key guys lock in for 2-4 more years. The market is going crazy right now and its actually a good thing to wait 2 more years before we start spending. We are in good position right now.

I agree. In two years we will have to extend Shabazz and Diengs contracts so that will eat a decent amount of cap room (barring a trade of Dieng). Also something else that is nice is that Pek's contract expires during the year we will need to give Wiggins and Lavine new contracts. Hopefully that will keep Flip in check in terms of free agency and bad contracts.
