You are right. I don't think Nets will trade Jarrett Jack after losing DWill.

One more to add: Jose Calderon

Charmers wouldn't be a bad guy to get. Has been a good three point shooter in the past. He started on a team that won it all twice, so he knows the effort it takes to win one. I think it's good to surround young talent with guys who have been there before.

I don't understand why we would want a vet instead of giving playing time to Lavine, Jones, Brown?

Best option is to develop what we already have in my opinion.

I agree Mr Unit, but I'd be in favor of a 1 yr rental like Augustine

Johnny Flynn?? I say that somewhat jokingly, but maybe he could thrive in a backup role? Another homecoming.

I prefer to develop our own but if I had to choose two PG vets that are available I'd probably go with N. Cole or J. Terry.

I am conflicted on this mostly because I don't know what to make of Brown. He turns 25 in a few weeks so he is still somewhat young and he could end up being a solid somewhat unique combo guard off the bench. I watched the first quarter of the Knicks Bucks SL games and Watching Jerian Grant he is sort of the player you wish Brown was. Size has a nice shot has scoring abilities can pass the ball. Grant looked good making good passes finding guys around the perimeter. He just looks like a much stronger player than Brown and just does everything better but I think the comparison is worth considering. I am not sure what the upside for Brown realistically is but I do like him. I think he does some things as a PG that you don't find in some of the scrap heap guys, but he has some weaknesses that are big too. I am not sure what kind of vet we can find with the money and role we are likely to offer but getting a vet at a key position of PG makes alot of sense. I wouldn't mind developing Brown either. He does look more ready for sure than 2 years ago.

I agree with a lot of your points. But I have a hard time viewing Brown as anything more than a 3rd PG for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, that's how I view Tyus as well. And if they are both fighting for the 3rd PG spot, guess who is going to win? The one with the guaranteed contract...

Tonight I watched the Jan 31st game of Love's return to MN. It was a fun game although disheartening at the end when Lebron finished off the game and the Wolves wilted. It was a nice reminder of the skills both Martin and Pek have when healthy and the true excientexcitement to have Wiggins on the team.

This was also the game Brown played all but 5 seconds of the game. He was scoreless but played well you would not have guess by how he was running the team he was a 10 day contract guy. He looked very vocal on both ends of the court. I don't want to put too much on that performance but I'll admit most of the minutes I saw Brown play last season were with the garbage players so it was interestig to see him with some actual NBA talent. In this game he was playing with Pek, Martin, Wiggins and Thad much of the game. I will add that Bennett put in some solid minutes. That game was a very different situation playing with real NBA talent and managing a game with guys that know what they are doing in general and within an offense.

My point is: Can Brown come in and make the correct plays a high percentage of the time, get guys reasonably good opportunities and just be a solid player? If so that may good enough for me even as the main backup and he might be pretty worthwhile. That's not so different from what we saw out of Luke when he was here and at 34 what he would provide if he was brought in. Brown is a passing PG that plays it safe to a fault at times but there is value to the way he approaches the game. I've been saying even before the draft that adding a vet guard that can handle the ball makes a lot of sense based on the roster but I guess my point is that I think we shouldn't dismiss Brown to quickly either. I think at times I have been too hard on him because he doesn't offset his couple bad plays a game with flash plays. I do think he should be a little more aggressive but considering the possible players he would be playing with he might fit pretty well just feeding guys and making cuts. Looking at some of his advanced stats I was surprised how decent they were all things considered.

My guess is we add a vet guard and Brown doesn't make the roster but we will see. He fits Flip's desire for guys that can guard and play multiple positions so that's something he has going for him. It's pretty obvious especially last year Flip is willing to keep looking for talent so if there is a guy that Flip thinks is better he will let someone go.
