Q and I probably value Lorenzo Brown more than anyone here and I think we realize his limitations.

Imo Lavine most of the season playing at PG did have an adverse effect on both young players and vets alike.

Now what does this all mean assuming all these injuries (which do have some likeliness) happen?

We need to consider the possible improvement of young players like Bazz, Wiggins and at PG Lavine. How much do those guys improve in their relative areas of ball handling and creating shots either for themselves or others.

What do we have in Tyus? He has the projected strengths to be solid as a PG even thrust into a role. Contrast that to Brown who had more college experience and now 2 years of pro ball. Flip obviously likes Tyus a lot and I think you can believe he also does like Brown to a certain extent. Should we keep a 3rd PG just in case? If he seems to be a guy that could be worthwhile beyond this year? Sure. Brown because of his size could be useful but he has to improve his game.

The guy I think is a dark horse for the last ball handler added to thebtosyer is a guy that's not really a PG is Heslip. He would bring possible elite 3 point shooting which could be significant for the team. He seems smart enough to play PG for a few minutes a game but his meal ticket is shooting. I'm almost as interested to see what he looks like in SL as anybody else after he averaged 2.5x more than he did in college at the pro level. How much did his ball handing skills improve from last year at this time?

Monster, how about we trade or cut AB and give his spot to Brady Heslip? Maybe we'd all be happy then and we wouldn't need any more AB Hype threads.

I remember doing my research for the 2013 draft and I wasn't that impressed with AB then. Granted it was a really weak draft and I don't think there were any sure fire studs in the draft, but Oladipo and Noel seemed like the surest bets. AB was being targeted in the 5 to 10 area on most mocks and then Cleveland shocked most everyone when they made AB the first pick. I think any potential AB showed while at UNLV has been negated by his poor showing in the NBA after two seasons. We got rid of Flynn and Wes after their second years and got rid of DWilliams after two and a half seasons. I was never impressed with Flynn and Wes from day one and sure enough neither panned out. It became clear by DWill's second season that he wouldn't pan out either. Given that I've never been impressed with AB, I certainly won't have any regrets if Flip decides to dump him after two uninspiring NBA seasons.

Funny that you weren't impressed by Flynn because we took a PnR PG and forced him into some form of the triangle, and he still managed to put up very impressive numbers during his rookie season. The only reason we dumped he was because he refused to listen to Rambis and he suffered a career ending hip injury.

I remember BIg Al talking highly about Jonny and how impressed he was with him.

Sounds good except the Bennett fans wouldn't be happy and Q wouldn't be happy with a guy that can't play D and probably can't run an offense that well. :) Those Heslip clips look impressive (in context) though. Dudes on defense were throwing up their hands like what the heck are we supposed to do after he nailed another contested 3 in their face.

Flynn was one of those guys pegged for end of the first round and I think shot up the board near draft time for some inexplicable reason. He wasn't even on my radar. I'd like to say that I would have taken Curry with the sixth pick, but I honestly preferred DeRozan and Jennings and then Curry. I never saw anything in him to make me think he'd live up to his draft spot or be a better than average starter.

Hope for the believers and hope for using his trade value for the guys that wouldn't mind seeing him go. :)

I will say I have respect for Triano though he seemed like a solid coach for the Raps not great but competent.

Not much new here, but here's the article where Triano talks about AB. He didn't talk to the media today, but he has to know he needs a good showing to keep Flip interested in him. He'll be the go-to guy on the Canadian team, so he should have a good chance to show what he can do.

It's the same argument just for a different player. Why are we trading or cutting a very recent lottery pick who plays a position in which we currently have no long-term answer for a second round talent that can't get onto any other NBA team? If you guys would name anyone with any possibility of sticking long-term I could see it, but you're just naming D League guys nobody else wants while dumping a guy half the league would try to pick up on a new deal. From a value standpoint you just can't justify that bad of a move. If you picked up someone like an Ennis or Burke that makes sense. Not these scrubs you keep bringing up that literally can't make an NBA roster, but somehow they'd be a good asset on our NBA team.

Thanks for posting that LST.

I think the quote from Flip that said something like "this is a big summer a make or break summer" means flip hasn't totally given up on the guy but may be ready to make a decision (sorta has to with that option) before the season starts as to what he want to do with bennett going forward. The last few days I've thought that Bennett is gonna stick around probably through training camp and Flip and the Wolves will maybe see more of what they have or don't have. Flip not sayijg anything about Bennett this offseason makes sense. He doesn't know what he has or doesn't have. Is Bennett available in a trade? Idk Martin was said to be available for months last year's and Flip continually shot that down and continues to say he values Martin.

All of us would love to see Bennett find himself and become a worthwhile player. This offseason I've been solid in saying that if we get something back for him or open a roster spot for someone worthwhile move him. Nobody knows his value for sure. I do think he is worth holding onto instead of just giving away because his salary this year doesn't really matter and worst case scenario we could cut him which I've said seems unlikely.

I don't see huge potential in Bennett but man it would be nice if he found himself because it does seem like he lacks confidence and just the going out there and playing type. He seems like a good guy. He needs minutes and an opportunity and the Pan Am games for Canada may be just the thing. Flip may have encouraged him to go there for that reason.

I would love for AB to prove me wrong but he has to know his time is about up. Barring him going ballistic this summer he's a goner. If Flip can get a first rounder even if heavily protected, I will be very impressed. If he gets a second rounder from a likely lottery bound team, I will be impressed.

This makes a lot of sense. It's like the talk show host that yells "fire him" every time a public figure is involved in controversy. I don't understand why getting rid of AB right now is the best option, or even A option. I want to see him given another legitimate chance here.
