On Friday, Prince made his first appearance in Miami-Dade court and was granted a $2,500 bond.
His defense lawyer, David Weinstein, said the charge was already being dismissed in Tarrant County, Texas, and stemmed from a trace amount of marijuana found during a traffic stop. Prince was unaware that police had filed the warrant for the low-level felony, Weinsten said.
"If he had known warrant existed, he would have surrendered," Weinstein told Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer.
First, I don't like that he was driving around with weed and guns. I guess I'm a traditionalist. Then again, Beasley had a pretty good year after his gun and drug charges, so maybe this is a good sign for Taurean's upcoming season!
Second, I'm too old school to know how vape pens work, but if his lawyer's description of "1/100th of an ounce" of THC is accurate, that doesn't sound like much. Can't even finish the Wizard of Oz while listening to Dark Side of the Moon on that. You'd be sober by the time the Munchkins show up.
Finally, a quick Google search suggests it's actually legal to have an unlimited number of loaded handguns in your car without a permit or license in Texas (which, Jesus Christ) unless they are in "plain view." So, maybe he had one dangling from the rearview mirror?

He got pulled over had a weed pen in his car what I would saying probably over 50 percent of 20 year olds have had in their lives. He then got gun charges because he had guns in his car that he legally owned but because he had the weed pen it is illegal to have guns with the "dangerous drug"
What's really messed up about this was the "dangerous drugs" referred to in most reports. Dangerous drugs has a legal meaning in Texas having nothing to do with weed.
