Fact check. Saric was drafted 12th overall in the lottery. Far from being a late first.
I agree that asset management has historically been bad. We had a stretch where we had the 6th, 4th and 2nd pick and we got ourselves the young core of johnny flynn, wes johnson and derrick williams. Yikes.
I don't know why anybody would be judging Saric and Covington for where they were drafted at this point.
At some point, draft position is entirely irrelevant.
Wiggins says hello!
Exactly. His draft position shouldn't be brought up at this point...
I wonder what Charlotte's gonna do with Kemba Walker. They're approaching no man's land like Minnesota was with Jimmy Butler, but without the media craze. They're also 7-7 right now -- so, not great enough to be contenders and not bad enough to go full tank. Despite liking how this team looks since trading Jimmy Butler, I'd at least throw some offers their way. I actually think Walker's play style is similar to Teague's, but he's just better/elite at practically everything. And he's a more decisive ball-handler/creator while not preventing ball movement like Butler did.
MIN: PG Jeff Teague, PF Anthony Tolliver, SF/PF Keita Bates-Diop, and Minnesota's 2019 first-round pick
CHA: PG Kemba Walker, PF Marvin Williams
That would be interesting for both sides.
The allure for the Hornets is that they get a top-15 point guard on a short-term deal, an intriguing young tweener forward that most pegged as a first-round talent on a second-round pick's salary, a likely top-20 pick in a pretty decent upcoming draft, and they rid themselves of Williams' salary.
Minnesota would get arguably a top-five point guard and top-20 player in the league to spearhead their offense. Kemba would be a serious addition to the mix of pace and space that the Wolves have incorporated over the last several months. We'd also get a chance to surround him with a good mix of youth and role players and get a firsthand opportunity to sell him on what Minnesota's building.
PG: Walker / Rose / Jones
SG: Wiggins / Okogie / Rose
SF: Covington / Okogie / Nunnally
PF: Gibson / Saric / Williams
C: Towns / Gibson / Dieng
Likely a playoff team with good upside in a brutal Western Conference.

Isn't Kemba a UFA after this season?
Yes he is, so the Wolves would have to have some certainty that they could sign him...rather risky.
I know last night was just one game, but Cam's proposed rotation doesn't seem to reflect Thibs' current thinking. Rose was the first man off the bench last night replacing RoCo as Wig moved to the 3, so at least for last night, Thibs seems to prefer Rose at the 2 and Tyus backing up Teague at PG. Also, he seems to prefer Dieng backing up KAT at the 2, rather than Gibson. Those thoughts may change, but it appears to be how Thibs views the roster right now. And it sure seemed to work last night as we blew out a very good team.

IMO Michael Jordon would never sign off on that trade.
