LST one issue with KG playing for the Clipppers is they are already well over the cap and have 15 players in guaranteed contracts I I don't see one of those guys being immediately dropped if KG's is available say tomorrow. My guess is KG isn't looking to join them right away. Both he and Doc (speculating obviously) will wait till there is an injury or someone proves they aren't worth having around and KG will be on speed dial. Of course it's possible there are a couple other teams that have interest as well. Who knows but I think it's fair to say that even if KG isn't eyeing playing sooner rather than later he would want the option of being able to play if he wants to which is the first time in his career he may be looking towards doing that which is something.

KG's contract is guaranteed. They have to pay him unless he says otherwise. It's obviously not a simple situation but I don't think Glen and the Wolves have a lot of leverage. The only way I see them having leverage is if KG wants to play somewhere else or if he wants to officially file retirement papers and that somehow would affect how much money he would get which I don't care enough to look up how that works.

It's guaranteed, but if he doesn't show up they don't have to cut the check as they'll just fine him, that was my point. KG has too much pride/arrogance to allow himself to be put on the end of the bench in street clothes, or worse, in uniform for a season. I agree with those who say it's not worth the headache nor bad press to save a few million of Taylor's dollars, I might feel different if they were my dollars though so I won't completely bash Taylor.

Ultimately this is a game of chicken, if KG shows up for camp will they risk his poisoning the young and talented well? If they're willing to take that risk, how long does KG allow himself to be sat at the end of the bench, out of sight, out of the lineup? If KG wants the full $8M he should just show up at camp, I suspect that would be enough to increase Taylor's perception of the value of no KG.

Interesting I hadn't thought of the fine or suspension angle. Man that would be ugly wouldn't it? I would think as bad as it probably has gotten both sides would try and avoid that. Both sides I would think would want to figure something out and I think one of them will cave before it gets to an even worse point.

I'd say at this point neither side has much interest in KG showing up for training camp etc. I think KG may have been ok sitting in street clothes and all that. Heck he did that for what half the season last year right? Lol I think it's that basically nobody is showing him much love and he is unhappy about that and there is a little bit of that that is justified but I don't blame anyone for not begging he comes back etc. KG and Sam Mitchell might be a lot a lot in that there are good and bad aspects to them. Both guys have this good soft heart quality to them and then go all crazy the next minute. The difference is Sam is gonna tell you stuff especially if you ask but KG is gonna stay out of sight and might never say anything. I truly like both guys but the more I think about it the more I feel like it's time to move on to a new era from both those guys that were a big part of this franchise in the past.

Just buy him out, why keep him around? It's not our money and the core players are here. We've made worse moves, we're paying pek more to not play. Kg won't be a bench rider. Let's move on.

They owe KG $8 million, and there's no logical reason for him to accept anything less. He's holding all the cards here. Glen needs to quit trying to save a few bucks, and pay KG $8 million to go away...far away. It's not about the roster space, because the guy that takes that 15th spot won't play much anyway. It's about getting rid of a very strong personality that could make things ugly this year if he stays around.

Aren't the Wolves far below the salary floor which makes haggling with KG over the buyout amount a moot point? since Taylor still needs to pay up the difference at the end of the season to the players on the roster.

I don't think so, Brooklyn, after they sign a 15th player. After signing Hill, Aldrich, Dunn and Rush, the Wolves were only about a million under the floor, so the 15th player who replaces KG will put them over the floor. Also, even if KG accepts a discount from the $8 million, doesn't the entire contract amount count against the cap anyway (I'm not sure about this. Anyone?).

I don't begrudge Taylor trying to appeal to KG with something like this: "Kevin, you don't need the money and you can't play...why not take $4 million to go away?". After all, $4 million is real money, even to a guy like Taylor. I don't expect KG to take anything less than the $8 million that he is owed, but it's worth a shot. I expect this will be resolved in the next couple days with KG walking away with no discount.

I believe we are full 4 mil below the salary floor.

I just don't want KG to be a distraction once camp starts. Get this settled so we have no issues to be concerned about.

Several sources report KG will be announcing his retirement this afternoon. Let's hope he has cooled off, and does this right...I'm actually feeling a little more optimistic that he is going to holster some of that KG passion.
