Re: Draft prospects - Who do we want?
I think if he is available you have to take Russell where we most likely will pick at, 3-5 range. I'm a Duke fan and my friend is an Ohio St. fan so we talk college hoops quite a bit, and he has talked about Russell almost all year. He's really made me a fan just from hearing about him. I think it's clear from watching these games, that we need another guy behind Rubio to make plays, especially if and when he goes down.
Also, a skilled big with loads of athleticism and talent that seems disengaged and floats around the perimeter? Sounds like Derrick Williams to me. And even though they're clearly different players, has anyone ever been described in that way and succeeded in the NBA? I have 0 interest in Towns for that reason.
Edit: this is all just from what I've heard others say, once it gets closer to the draft I actually watch some of the DX stuff on guys and highlights. I realize I was coming off like I knew nothing concrete, just confirming that as true lol
On that note though, there's quite a few Dukies that could help our team next year, but I always feel that way. Was rooting hard for Singler, since he won either tournament MVP or championship game MVP and we took or ended up with that guy like 2-3 years in a row. He so far actually is looking like the most productive one of them all too. Even if that is being generous.

Karl Towns isn't Derrick Williams or Anthony Bennett. Watch one Kentucky game and you'll see that.

Watch an old Arizona game and you will see that Towns isn't Derrick Williams. You can't project things that way Cam.

My point was that Towns is more engaged than bleed and others are acting like. Not that Towns is a better college player than either of them.
And Towns is already a shot-blocking animal who rebounds well. Even if his offensive game never grows, hell have that. D-Will and Bennett had nothing to fall back on.
Re: Draft prospects - Who do we want?
I agree with Cam on this one. Towns doesn't play D like Williams or Bennett from what I can see. I think Towns has a lot of hustle in him, he is just unpolished and maybe hasn't had the traditional good coaching his whole career to this point.
I think he is 2nd or 3rd best for our squad right now.

Okafor, Russell, and Towns will go in the top 3, assuming they all come out. With that being said, I think we'll be looking at our choice of Mudiay, Johnson, Porzingis, and WCS. Out of those 4, who are you taking and why?
I see Johnson being slotted to Orlando at #5 in most mocks. That Orlando lineup would be scary.
Payton, Oladipo, Johnson, Gordon, Vucevic?? Holy Defense...

I don't see Bennett or DWill in Town. I just see a guy that is not aggressive and will be a step slow. He has physical talent to dominate in college and is not. Why? I don't think it is coaching. He has had access to great coaching.
If we pick 4th with Okafor, Russell, and Towns going in front of us I would really need to see more from Mudiay, but Johnson would be my guy today though.

I am not crazy about any of those picks beyond the top 3. Some of them could definitely turn into great players but I see Okafor, Russell and Towns as the top tier of this draft, with Okafor really being in a class by himself. I would think/hope that around 4 a lot of options open up for us, including trades. Gun to my head I say Mudiay or Johnson, but who knows.

(I'm not sure either AB or DW were considered floaters in college - both put up impressive numbers. It was in the NBA where it seems like these guys just can't decide what they want to be when they grow up and end up not being really good at anything).

Stanley Johnson please and thank you. Though, in your scenario, Mudiay wouldn't be a bad pick either.
Just goes to show that if all these guys declare, we should have a good addition to the team no matter what.
