I felt then that there was more to his story. If not, he would've gone #1 for sure, even with the one injury. When oden came out, I thought he would be a superb player. HoF type career. Ever since I've been wary of bits with an injury history. Look at pek, always injured. Look at dieng, always healthy.
Bowie and Oden really have scared teams away from injured bigs. I really hope Embiid can be healthy because I want to see a dominating big man in the league again. Haven't had one since Shaq.
The Sixers probably want Mudiay, but if they get that first pick then what do they do? I'm sure they could find a partner for Okafor, just hope it's not us. I want our C to be a defensive force.

I just cant get down with a player that gets hurt and gets a big payday before he ever plays a min in the NBA. Pretty easy to develop bad habits with a truck load of money and alot of down time away from the game... Oden comes to mind.

I don't know that Oden developed bad habits. I think he was and is damaged goods. Sucks to be the Blazers drafting two talented big men. Both get hurt limiting what they can do, and oh by the way guys by the name of Jordan and Durant were picked directly after that.
Yeah the blazers have been terribly unlucky. Its not as if they drafted bad and totally missed. Oden, Bowie, and Roy were all very good. Must be something in the water over there.
To be fair the Embiid weight stuff was shown to be BS. Injury is still concerning however.
As far as taking Okafor #1 and trading him. If a team is doing that they'll likely have a deal lined up with another top team. Like if the Wolves ended up #1, I'd be looking to trade down a couple spots (depending on what teams are there and what their needs are) and acquiring another asset or unloading a Bud ;)
The Embiid question is pretty simple to me. You ask Wiggins if he'd team up with him again and see how he thought of Embiid at KU as a teammate. Then you trust in KG to beat all the BS out of him and help shape him into a player if you do acquire him. I'm more worried about the other aspects of Embiid than the injuries and we have a former teammate on our team who can make that pretty easy to flag it or debunk it. If Embiid stayed, he'd have been the clear number 1 pick in this draft so you clear up some of the flags to see if it is worth it and trust your acquisition in KG to make it work. If Embiid and Wiggins like each other then you just increased the odds of both of them willing to stay together down the line which is really important when building a contender.

Pek abused Noel this year.
Pek abuses a lot of players. Especially rookies who aren't physically developed yet. Pek would abuse Dieng too if Dieng had to guard him.
I'd feel more comfortable with taking Towns or Okafor instead of trading for Embiid. Too big a gamble, and he hasn't played competitive basketball for more than a year.
Wiggins would speak up for him. Of course he would because that's his friend from college. The good thing about Andrew (and Zach, Shabazz) is that these young guys seem to have formed good relationships already.
We can disagree on this last point, but I believe Embiid is more into the NBA spotlight than he is the NBA game. To me, that's another issue.
Russell on CBS right now, if you want to get a look at him. I'd keep towns over trading for Embiid, I'd take the lesser player than risk an injury prone player
