Re: Draft prospects - Who do we want?
The many debates I had in here...
The many times I posted about Towns...
Will I be rewarded in some way?...
Or will Flip crush my spirit momentarily and select Okafor?...
On June 25th, we shall all find out!

Hey look Cam, you can always go back to bragging up Staukas for a trade

Re: Draft prospects - Who do we want?
I just watched last night's Sports Show, and Sid (for what it's worth) said that Flip is in love with Russell...thinks he has a chance to be a Magic Johnson type player. Sid thinks Flip is going to do everything he can to get one of the bigs plus Russell! He said Flip might try to move up using a package that includes LaVine and our two seconds. I like Russell a lot more than I like Zach, and I wonder what kind of package might entice the Lakers or Philly to trade their pick. The Lakers might like a flashy showtime player like LaVine (who incidentally had his best game of the year at Staples). Would LaVine, 2 picks, and Anthony Bennett be enough? Or if Flip loves Russell as much as Sid says, would he be willing to go as high as Rubio and LaVine, and would that be enough? Would you make that move? I apologize if this concept is just way too bizarre, but Sid is right sometimes, and he was very firm about Flip wanting to wheel and deal to land Russell plus one of the bigs.

I probably trade the farm if it means getting Towns and Russell next to Wiggins, in all honesty. I just don't realistically see how we could get the No. 2 pick from the Lakers. We have nothing to give them that's worth that pick.

I would too, and that's why I found Sid's comments so intriguing. Rubio and LaVine could really put on the kind of show they love in LA, and would good next to Randle. Rubio was a 5th pick, LaVine looks like he might be a steal at 13. Might two lottery picks like Rubio, Lavine, and our 2 early second rounders be enough to get the Lakers to give up their pick? What if Flip added AB? Seems like a very good haul.
Re: Draft prospects - Who do we want?
Sounds like smoke to me...
But wouldn't a trade with the Knicks make more sense?
You take Russell with #1, the Lakers take a big, and Philly would probably take someone other than big, right? So then you get one of the two bigs at #4.
But I'm not sure what it would take to get #4 from New York. And Philly could screw it all up by trading down to a team that DID want one of the two bigs...
DAMN! We have an entire month of all this muddling over the possibilities, when in all likelihood we just take Towns on draft day.

If I were them, I'd just take Okafor or Russell and be satisfied.
It would come down to how highly they viewed LaVine, and probably not high enough.
I wouldn't get too hopeful on this one, unfortunately.

Then why do the Knicks trade the pick if they're staring at Towns or Okafor? They don't.
