Said it because Flip said they considered talking Payne instead of LaVine. I highly doubt it. I am thinking he was debating Gary Harris over Lavine, but not Payne. I think we drafted the right guy.

Thanks for clearing things up. I'm sure the Love comparison or at least idea he could fill a similar role with the chance of being better defensively played a role in them liking Payne. Either way I think it's kinda cool they ended up with 2 of their favorites at that spot. It sucks it required giving up some flexibility, but it's not the end of the world since we have other tradeable assets and ATL is likely to get less than they paid for Payne. I don't see the Wolves drafting 15th in 2017.. I'm banking closer to 20.

Anyone know anything about Rakeem Christmas from Syracuse? Man, he has been great statistically, and they pulled out a big game tonight. And if you look at his "picture" tab under his player profile on ESPN, he is clearly a great athlete that gets massive elevation. I haven't seen Syr play this year, but I thought this guy was a skinny dude. They have him listed at 6'9" and 250. Like I said, haven't seen him play this season, but I am a bit surprised he isn't getting more draft love. Thoughts?

He had a good defensive first half against Okafor a week or two ago, but then Jahlil destroyed him in the second half. I haven't watched much of him after that, though. Seems like he has that Adreian Payne gene in that he's improved every year at college, taking a big statistical leap in his senior year. Seems like a 2nd round guy to me.

Who knows, though. Maybe someone takes him in the first round and Flip decides he wants him bad enough to trade a future first for him after the fact. Because that would make sense.

PS: This has to be Okafor's worst defensive game of the year. UNC just dominating points in the paint. He's not able to make up for it offensively either. 0-6 at the line, including big ones in OT.

Duke came back to win. Jones is looking good. Okafor ended up going 6/11 from the fields for 12 points and 13 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. If that was Towns line we would be so excited. (full disclosure he did have 5 turnovers)

Also, Okafor made a few plays at the end that sealed this win. While he seemingly gets passive at times, he is just unstoppable when he wants to be.....as he showed at the end. Duke is a lot lie Kentucky in that they have a ton of offensive weapons, and they rarely need to lean on Okafor for entire games. That being said, he almost always (very quietly) comes out with 15-20.

But, as Cam says, his defense is brutal. I actually thought he made some good half-court defensive plays in the first half.....but you can just tell the lack of respect teams have for him in the way they dive to the basket relentlessly. Will probably never be a superior defender, but with his offensive game, even average defense will make him a star.

So I'm starting to think we may be in for a repeat of 20 years ago..
Kevin Garnett... 1995, 5th pick...
___________... 2015, 5th pick?

Could Towns some how slip to 5th? Can we somehow magically win a top 3 pick? I guess we'll find out.

I'd wager that Towns is gone after the first three picks. If we pick at 5, we're not getting him without trading up.

I still really like Bobby Portis. I'd so much rather have him instead of Payne or Bennett, but they're already here and I get that.

Let's say we somehow miss out on Okafor/Towns and select one of Russell/Mudiay/Johnson, could anyone see him somehow jumping back in the late lottery/mid-round area to snag a guy like that? Probably not without giving up Martin and perhaps Bjelica.
