If we are going for a second ball-handler, is it the consensus on the board that you'd take Russell over Mudiay? That's what it feels like. I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

I see Johnson being slotted to Orlando at #5 in most mocks. That Orlando lineup would be scary.
Payton, Oladipo, Johnson, Gordon, Vucevic?? Holy Defense...
Stanley Johnson please and thank you. Though, in your scenario, Mudiay wouldn't be a bad pick either.
Just goes to show that if all these guys declare, we should have a good addition to the team no matter what.
When you compare the talent of mudiay and Johnson vs our needs, which is the better fit? Can mudiay work well here, and have we seen enough from him to warrant taking him over Johnson?

Russell's the better shooter, rebounder and arguably the better passer.
Mudiay's the better attacker/finisher, defender. Better athlete too.
I think people have lost their love for Mudiay since he went to China. I wish he would have played at SMU.

I really see the draft going this way..
Knicks #1 take okafor - I think a great pairing for Phil's offense.
Philly #2 takes Russell
Lakers #3 take Towns to pair with Randle. I think those 2 compliment each other very well.
Wolves #4 left with a tough decision mudiay or Johnson.
I'm not big on porzingis, and I think wcs is too highly rated.

If that's the order in the draft, there's no way the Lakers don't take Mudiay.

Q, does it not worry you that Russell takes bad shots more often than he should? Also settles for that mid-range jumper Mo Williams style. He makes a ton of tough shots, which is credit to his talent, but I wish he got to the rim more.
Re: Draft prospects - Who do we want?
Really? I feel the mudiay hype as died down incredibly. Well if that's the case then I say our decision is even more difficult with towns and Johnson.

Agree, there's not a guy in the top 5 or 6 that doesn't have flaws or question marks. You can get away with being mostly a jump shooter if you can knock down the 3 - that's the real key because it's such an efficient shot when north of the 35% mark. He's done it with accuracy and in high volume, which is encouraging. But yeah, he probably won't be a Harden-esque free throw machine.

Cam, I agree. I think they go Mudiay in that spot. I would take Johnson then. Towns is a better fit though.

Russel seems more in the Westbrook/Curry vein to me than having a bunch of skills that put Wiggins way out of position. I think size/athleticism at the 4 is still our greatest need but I would be pretty excited to throw Russell in the mix here and could see a bunch of lineups that would work with him.
Westbrook I don't see, unless you're just talking about mindset. I do see some Steph curry in Russell though. Would be a tough pill to swallow if he comes anywhere close to Curry's status and we passed on him.
Luckily for me, I see him picked #2. I'm with LST in the thinking that we are picking closer to #5 than #1.
