Towns was really quiet again today. He's a high risk / high reward pick IMO.

Yeah, not what I was looking for out of him today. 12 minutes or something like that. Calipari wasn't happy with him.

[Stanley Johnson plays later tonight.]

I didn't see the game, but the box score is more evidence that Towns is not going to be a top 3 pick. I still like what he could bring to the Wolves, and I'm happy that he is likely to be available to us even if Ricky leads a late season surge that moves us lower in the draft. I can't help noticing that even though he is not getting many minutes or scoring much, he is blocking more shots as the season progresses...3 1/2 blocks per game his last five games

I doubt his box scores mean much to scouts. They're watching the tape and seeing his ability. Not many guys in the NBA have his measureables + skill. Still a top-three pick come draft time.

If the Wolves do go with a wing, then this team should cut their losses and give up on LaVine, because if I told you the team was going to draft a player with the hope that in 3-4 years he can be a bench player, you'd tell me it's the most pointless experiment ever.

So, if he turns into a Jamal Crawford type off the bench, is it a pointless experiment? That's what I'm hoping/kinda expecting even if he's not as good as Crawford.

I don't think that's what Flip had in mind when he took him (and if Wiggins turns into who we think he'll be, it's not as if there will be minutes left over for a backup to truly matter)

LaVine's short stint to date in the NBA fails to provide any credible basis for assessing his NBA potential or projecting his NBA career. His minutes have been limited and he's gotten most of those minutes thurst unexpectedly into the role of our starting PG after playing 1 season of college ball as a back up SG. Talk about being set up to fail!

Something I've kept quiet about for a long time is that I had a 1 on 1 lunch with Flip 2 weeks before the draft. Among a lot of things in our 90 minutes together talking hoop, he old me then we were going to draft Zach if still available when we were on the clock based on who he expected would still be on the board. Flip loved his potential then and that hasn't changed. Flip also told me then that Shabazz was going to become a very good NBA player. I was skeptical and we discussed that a bit. Look at how Shabazz has played this season so far. Recall that flips main target trading down the summer we picked Shabazz was to makes sure we could get Dieng with our other first round pick.

Bottom line is this. I was initially skeptical of Flip as our new President of Basketball Operations. But I think we've seen enough so far to give him the benefit of the doubt on his assessment of talent. He was and remains very high on Zach. So I am not about to write off Zach based on what we've seen of him so far.
