That's a great get for them. I think that was actually an attractive job because of the young talent. Maybe Walton doesn't turn out to be all that but I am sorta cheering for him to do well there. That's weird cause it's the Lakers. Lol

The Laker job appears to be a very good job. You have some promising young talent, a potential number one pick, and a ton of cap room. I think it's a good fit for both sides.

I think the Lakers could have done better than Walton. He seems pretty green and probably won't be able to control that team of misfits. But it is LA, and we should all marvel at the pretty people in the stands, and wish we were them.

The Lakers could end up with Just Russell as the only "misfit" to deal with. They could just flat out cut Young if they really wanted to (I don't see anyone trading for him) so that would help. I don't know who else is really a problem that will be coming back. I suppose if they end up signing Whiteside that could make things interesting.

Walton is an unproven guy (but also a Lakers guy) but it's also the Lakers if he doesn't work out 2 years from me they can fire him and still probably attract someone pretty good. I think he is a good fit for that roster though.

Not sure how good Luke Walton will be. Tough to tell because he hasn't really proven much--in my book. That Warriors team was so hot at the beginning of the year, a random monkey from the zoo could probably have coached that team to the top of the standings.

Things would probably be better for Luke in Lakerland if D'Angelo hadn't pulled the whole Nick Young thing. Even if they let Young go (which they should), other guys there will remember it. But winning changes things fast. They do have young talent, and they are the Lakers--which does still mean something.

The question is, will they get the right free agents? It might be a little too early to tell. It might be too soon after Kobe's era, and stars might want to distance themselves from that before they try to put their own stamp on the team. Or, more likely, they'll want to wait and see if this team can show promise before committing to a rudderless ship with no sail. Might be a beautiful boat, but if it isn't going anywhere, who wants to sail it?

I don't think the Lakers could ever be a bad job, but I'm not sure it's so great right now. They really need to luck into a top 2 pick which is far from a given. They have good but not great young talent. And unless a couple free agents conspire to go there at the same time, I have a hard time believing a Durant type will go there solo in the hope more come later. I think it's still an uphill climb there.

So who we got left? Blatt, LST's boy Ollie, JVG, Maybe Joerger/Bickerstaff. Would like to see Bickerstaff join our staff if all the other good gigs are taken.

I like walton as the coach there, an improvement from scott dor sure. Whiteside would be a great get for them. A lineup of Clarkson/Russell/Ingram ( its the Lakers I assume they get "lucky" here)/Randle/Whiteside would be extremely fun to watch.

I don't think Whiteside should be on any young team. He's a guy that has to be around veterans.

Agreed and he should have a vet coach too.
