Minnesota and the Knicks have shown that the triangle is just as shitty as any other system when your team is horrible. I actually think Phil has done alright positioning that team in the right direction. He's trimmed the fat and scored big on Porzingis in the face of an irate fan base. This is definitely a do or die type move though, to try and put Rambis in one of the most high profile job in sports.
Sure yeah the players aren't great either but my point is the coach (whoever Phil hires) running the triangle for the Knicks isn't 2 of the greatest coaches of all time in Phil Jackson and Tex Winter. It's some guy that maybe learned it from Phil or used it as part of his repertoire. Sure Phil is around to help out but I just don't think that's enough. You can't coach someone else's system. I figured that maybe a guy like Kerr or Fish might be able to make it work but Kerr smartly went elsewhere Fish was a moron and had some issues that helped got himself fired and now its down to Rambis and Luke Walton? Walton has been working for a team with a different system. Is he really a triangle guy? I suppose they could bring in some other former player like Brian Shaw or something. The triangle is a terrific system but I just don't buy in that Phil is going to be able to just proxy some established coach or some mediocre or younger one with triangle experience into making it work. I both hope Phil fails gloriously and hope it works out so I don't feel strongly biased either way just offering up my opinion that I guess is starting to get pretty strong. Lol
Someone tweeted that the Lakers will consider Izzo. If Izzo were to get the gig, maybe we can trade Payne to the Lakers for their 2nd rounder (32nd overall).

Let's give them Payne for Clarkson. Who wants a guy from Mizzou anyways.

Some things are just wrong at their core. Broten playing for the Stars but not the North Stars, Favre in purple, and McHale in purple and gold. I'm pretty sure they are three signs of the apocolypse!

Those three guys are terrible defenders and McHale isn't known for defense, so I don't see them being a playoff team without a major upgrade in talent. If they lose their pick this year, its going to be a slow rebuild.

But they are ultra-talented and fit the type of uptempo offense that McHale used in Houston. He's also underrated in terms of developing players. Lot of run n' gun appeal with that young nucleus too.

McHale may not be a defensive coach but he could just bring his entire staff over from Houston including Bickerstaff who was pretty solid on that end when some players seemed to care. The strength of McHale to me is he knows the game and has a lot of clout but the biggest thing is he is very creative in using players to their strengths.

I'd be happy if we can just dump Payne for a Euro player's rights that nobody cares about or something that with no value. If you want hope keep in mind Kahn was able to get two 2nd round picks for Lazar Hayward from OKC. Who did the Wolves get with those picks that were in the late 50's? Robbie Hummel in 2012 and Dubljevi? in 2013. Not bad for a guy that hasnt done much since then. Maybe there is a team that will take Payne. Oh man I am getting excited!

To me, the Lakers are a heap of dung and it will probably take at least 3 years for them to make the playoffs with McHale or any other coach they could reasonably expect to get. The quick fix mentality of the Howard and Nash trades has bit them and there are no miracle workers in LA now.
