Its such a good deal for us as we still get one of the 3 guys who are neck and neck as the #1 prospect. I know you're in love with towns, but he's not a superior prospect to embiid and he may not even be superior to Okafor or Russell.

I agree with Cam's assessment of Embiid's injury risk. But if that's the deal, Flip should take it. I just can't see the Sixers doing that deal unless they're sure Embiid's is a bust. And I can't imagine how they could be that sure. So no sense exploring any further such an improbable hypothetical.

Any remotely realistic hypothetical scenarios would have us giving up at least LaVine along with our top pick as part of a package to get Embiid's and #3. That's something I would NOT do for all the reasons Cam has given.

Deal specifics aside, the point is Flip needs to keep his options open. You never know what could emerge or what trading partners can surface. I'm sure he's talking to a lot of GM's to see what's potentially out there. As far as a deal with Philly goes, for Embiid and #3, I would give up #1 and anybody other than Wiggins, Lavine, and Rubio. There might be a package in there that Philly would go for to insure they get Russell. But I would also say that I think Towns will be a better pro than Embiid. I think it's questionable between Okafor and Embiid.

Camden wrote:You don't trade a top pick with two healthy, very good big man prospects in their own right available for another big man that is also a very good prospect, but has red flags outside of basketball ability. That's not a risk worth taking. I may be alone on this one, but so be it.

By the way, I'm not necessarily labeling Embiid as injury prone. It's that the injuries in his history have historically been detrimental to big men, even the great ones. When making close calls in terms of prospects or trades like this, everything is in play, especially causes for concerns as big as injuries.

Cam, I'm 100% with you on this issue. If Embiid is available he's damaged goods and I don't want to give up Towns or even Okafor to make the swap. Flip needs to stay at 1 and not get greedy. This could really backfire on us if he tries to be too clever.

I think Embiid looked like the best of the 3. If the 76ers want to trade him I would really want our crack team of doctors and trainers checking him over and making sure he is okay first. If any team could find something and keep him on the court it would be our team. (NOT)

The NBA is littered with stories of highly touted bigs with foot injuries and most of these bigs end up retiring early or have recurring problems. Unfortunately, Embiid is a very risky player and even if he's healthy I would prefer Towns or Okafor. You got to go for the franchise big who is healthy.

We already have Pek and if we take on Embiid, we end up using nearly 20 million on bigs who are unreliable. If we don't take on Embiid, we have more to spend on a free agent and if we draft Towns, we'll have the salary cap in a year to add a solid player to our core of Wiggins, Towns, Ricky and Lavine.

If healthy it's Embiid and it's not even close. Not sure he is healthy and the injury problems big men have is concerning.

I worry 76ers would do the trade and take Russell.

How can Embiid be labeled as unreliable already? He hasn't played a game because his team kept him out much longer than he needed to be held out so his injury fully heals. Until he actually gets reinjured it's not a fair label to call him unreliable or injury prone. A broken foot is just as much a freak injury as a torn ACL. He'll have had over a year to recover and heal when the needed time frame was 4-6 months stated by his surgeon.

Of course they would Bleed. That's the only reason they would do the trade.
