Re: Small Forward Targets
It's not so much the Bobcats giving up on MKG as making a move that fits what they need with talent that is still around the same age as MGK. They have 2 good wing defenders in Henderson and Taylor already, but neither of them are better scorers than D Will even while D Will is struggling to find his place. Big Al is a C and Zeller is a rookie 4 who will inevitably play some 5. McRoberts is really their only true 4 and I would think any person would rather have D Will and his potential playing minutes over McRoberts when your team is built like theirs is. D Will could play the 3 there just for the fact that they need his scoring more than they need MKG's defense. Throw in another young player like a Shved or Bazz and it should be a no brainer for them because MKG just isn't ready yet and they are looking to win more now than they probably should be. The reason I like MGK over Taylor is Taylor is really a backup 2 with a 2's size and we need a true 3 who can defend that position and Brewer isn't that guy. He is a disruptor off the bench like JJ. MKG has the size and athleticism and would give us a young piece to look forward to developing in the future while playing which seemingly nobody but Shved is going to get a chance to do this year pending injuries. I think it makes sense for both teams and it puts both D Will and MKG in better situations to succeed which could help them both reach their potential.

ESPN reported that the Raptors are willing to trade just about anyone except Jonas V. What about DeRozan? I know he has been underwhelming but he would fit the athletic wing role. Is he good defensively? I don't watch much Raptors game, even with the league pass.

DeRozan is a SG and not one that I'm thrilled about. Not a good shooter. Not a top notch defender. He's a driver/slasher type player. I don't see the fit in my opinion.

I think he could do both but probably not a full time SF. If they're willing to trade I'd definitely look into getting Terrence Ross. It really couldn't hurt to have another..excuse me, the only young, athletic SG on the team. I'm sure there's other teams willing to give up more than we could though.
