If I were Flip and Rick, I would tell Zgoda that Love is off limits the rest of the year.
That would be an amateur move from a desperate franchise.
You can't be taken seriously as an organization if you do that. It's simply not feasible. And, I don't know why Zgoda is getting raked over the coals by anyone in any of this.
The man is doing his job. Fans like to blame the media for a lot of ills. Some of them are justified. In this case... I don't see how it is. He's the beat writer, he has to report on this story.
I don't disagree at all, Abe. I was being facetious about putting the lock down on Kevin (although they did in the past with his tweeting). and I have no beef with Zgoda...I just wish Kevin wouldn't make his job so easy. I'm all about winning, not drama, and right now we have too much of the latter and not enough of the former.
And by the way, alex and Abe, thanks for getting me through the waning minutes of my layover from hell in gay Paree :) .
Punch a local in the face before you leave. I'd appreciate it.
Apparently they haven't heard about that new product that everyone is talking about...deodorant.

Love is a great player, but he is a spoiled, entitled f'n brat as a person. Leaders are made in times of trouble, its easy to lead when everything is going your way, but a true leader will pick his team up when they need it most. I don't think Love is cut out to be a leader in the real sense of the word, it's just not in his makeup.
Going back to Love's rookie season when he said he was Robin to Beasley's Batman, I think that says all you need to know. Love is the type of personality that can very well be a teams best player, but he needs someone else in the locker room to be the true leader! The Wolves need another quality veteran to lead, not just on the floor, but in all aspects. I have no idea how you add that to this team now though.

Didn't see anything wrong with Love's comments. Think he's trying to establish himself as a leader and why are Barea/Cunningham getting a pass to sulk, if they were in fact sulking? Sulking and/or being negative is contagious. Also, Love could have shot 0-40 from the field and I'd still want him to call Barea/Cunningham out for sulking. His performance on the court doesn't determine when he's supposed to be a leader or not. It should be all the time whether he scores 45 or 5 points in a game.

Re: Am I the only one totally sick of Love's shtick?
Love is not a good leader. That should be pretty obvious to all at this point.
Calling out JJ and Dante for just "Sitting there" during timeouts......seems pretty absurd to me. The starters had a 9 point lead with 4:30 left in the game..........................and Love choose to complain about................ the bench?!?!? That seems either disingenuous or missing the point to the extent that I have to question Love's IQ.
Right now the Wolves are completely void of leadership. It is very obvious if you look at all the close games that we have lost. Love is trying (or gave up on trying or something)......that is ok........Rubio can't do it right now.....Pek won't.....Brewer shouldn't....and Martin doesn't want to.
It would have gone a long way for the Wolves last night if Love would have said something like, "I really disappointed that I had such a terrible game. My teammates are relying on me to do better, and I just didn't do it. If we get solid games from the _________ (it could be bench,Brewer, Martin, etc).like we did for the past 2 nights, we'll win a bunch of games this year."
Most NBA stars seem pretty good at this type of stuff.......Love can't seem to get it down.

Not sure if you're referring to me, but I don't think it matters how well a leader plays in a particular game insofar as leading goes. I just don't think Love's entitled "I'm in my fourth year and they haven't gotten me into the playoffs yet..." personality is what leaders are made of. I'm not at all saying JJ and DC aren't deserving of an ass chewing, but that Love doesn't have a clue as to how to go about it.
KG is a leader, I never heard him mention they, or them, or he. It's always we, and when he said it you believed he wasn't just giving lip service. When Love says we there's always the undertone of they within it. When KG had a great game but the team lost he always felt he needed to do more, when Love has a great game and the team loses he did his part.
I'm not suggesting the Wolves trade Love or that he's not their best player, only that the team needs a true leader, one that Love isn't capable of being right now.

I just read the entire quote........Wow, Love sounds like a complete pussy.
Re: Am I the only one totally sick of Love's shtick?
Great discussion here. I don't think it is a coincidence that this happened when the national media was in town. Very challenging situation. Love likes the spotlight, and wants to be a star. I think leaders can lead in many different ways. Love is really adjusting to becoming that person and having that responsibility. I think what Love is saying in this instance is good. But clearly he has yet to earn the respect of many people (teammates, fans), because of his past behavior. I was one of the most vocal critics of Love last year, but I really think what he is doing this year on and off the court has won me over. What is clear to me is that a shakeup has to happen with this team. We need to come back to reality. Pek and Love make us a 500 team with any coach. Flip needs to start pulling some triggers to let Love know that winning with him as our star is the top priority.

I was hoping Rubio was that leader. He will need to be more clutch to be that.

Remember earlier in the year when we thought Love had matured? Yeah me too.
This whole business of "calling someone out or getting in their face" is just a temporary high. Love doesn't know how to lead by example and stick to "we" or "the team" when he jacks his jaw.
I'm ok with entertaining trade offers for him and not renewing Rubio's contract. I don't think these 2 together can win a championship.

.
Love waited till JJ and Dante were gone before he made his comments. So he waited for them to leave before he "called them out". Sad.
