As for the 1st rd pick... I don't see it. But if it did happen, it's definitely protected and a ways out.
So, how does that help a team desperate to win NOW?
Agree with you Abe. But Chuck Hayes is Rick Adelman type of player and a great low post passer. Believe Adelman use to start Hayes at the 5 during their stint to together in Houston so I certainly wouldn't put it past him.
D Wills trade value (if he still has any) is heading south fast.He should of been dealt in the off season after his last month of play last season. His trade value will never be higher as a Wolf as it was this last offseason.

Wrong. His value was highest before he ever set foot on the court in a Wolves uniform.
I don't know why the team drafted a player who played the same position as the ONLY worthwhile player they had at the time. And I'm usually a proponent of the "drafting for talent" approach when you're a crappy team. Williams was the consensus #2 pick... but wouldn't another team have been happy to move up for him?

Or, to nab him that first season?
I think we over valued williams when we drafted him. He was the consensus #2 pick at that time and there were offers, but i think we talk ourselves into thinking he could be a 3 long term and an all star someday.
Ive spoke about this before, but we should have traded williams after his rookie season. We had a good look at him and he could still be traded based on promise and potential back then with excuses like he was coming off a lockout with no training camp etc.
Back then, I was hoping that we trade him to sacramento for their 5th pick or to golden state for their 7th pick and draft andre drummond or harisson barnes with the pick. I believe that that would have a good chance of happening then. That would have made our team much better now and in the long run. Now were talking about chuck hayes. sigh

Wrong draft. Lol you're thinking of the 2012 draft in which we didn't have a pick. In 2011, the best we could have done was trade back and take Klay Thompson or reach on Vucevic.

Lol cam, you need to read my post again. I said trade dw AFTER his rookie season. To either sac or gs for the 5th or 7th pick And draft drummond or barnes

For some reason, I completely skipped over:

My apologies. I don't think we would have gotten a lottery pick for him after his rookie season, though. I don't think he showed enough for teams to want to make that trade.

No problem cam.
I actually think thats a possible scenario. Dw still has positive value after his rookie season. Considering sac drafted robinson who isnt a better prospect than dw then, trading for dw would have been an option for them. The sad thing is right now, chuck hayes is who were talking about as possible targets in a dw trade
