Re: Flip v. Lip
Eh, pulling this off would be a long shot you must understand. Of course yours is better, but you never know.
Edit: Only a piece of my message went through! -_-'
To simplify what I was going to say, there is a chance the Wolves didn't want him (Per Wolfson and 1500 radio, he took injury days on day he most likely could have played.) and a chance Andrei didn't want to play here. Also, you may have had to trade all your seconds for next years seconds as the draft is hyped up due to the top being amazing. As for the rest, I agree with it all other than the fact that Turiaf should not get that much.

Chris Johnson is also missing from that list they posted so I guess its just a case of poor journalism.

Re: Flip v. Lip
So where are you dumping DWill/Barea off if you do all that? Your plan doesn't work with the cap. What we have right now is squeezing in the cap tight as it is.
Flip:
Shabazz - 1,887,120
Dieng - 1,352,640
Martin - 7,000,000
Brewer - 5,000,000
Turiaf - 1,600,000
Total: 16,839,760
Lip:
McCollum - 2,316,720
Gobert - 1,080,000
Martin - 7,000,000
AK - 7,000,000
Carroll - 2,500,000
Turiaf - 1,600,000
Total: 21,496,720
That's a difference of 4,656,960 in the two plans. Pretty much means you're dumping D-Will off on another team to make things work. Personally, I like Flip's additions how they are and he hasn't given up on D-Will. That's just my opinion, however.

Agree Camden. If we get AK, McCollum, Carrol then were over the tax threshold. Also, Lip lets remember that Flip was willing to get AK for 7 mil per for 3 years but AK wanted 10. Kahn made a bad promise and Flip couldn't keep it. Brewer will work out fine!
Re: Flip v. Lip
I was hoping we could retain AK47, but I LOVE what Flip did with AK's money.
We have a pretty rock solid lineup without relying on any of the rookies (Shabazz and Dieng), or the young, unprooven players (Shved, D-Will, and CJ).
The veteran, rock solid lineup uses a 9-man rotation: Rubio/JJ at PG, Martin/Brewer/Bud at the wing, and Love/Pek/DC/Turiaf for bigs. The 5 young players span all 5 positions, and all have plenty of upside: Shved/Shabazz/D-Will/CJ/Dieng.
Pretty cool!

We have no idea if Kahn made any promise. That was pure media speculation by Kahn haters, as usual. I find hard to believe that Kahn wouldn't give AK a third year last season, but after missing 20 games he is going to do it now. We also dont' know what AK's camp was willing to sign for, and we don't know if Flip was willing to go 3 years.
Camden your math is off on the first group by a little over a mil. There isn't anything that says we can't go into Lux tax territory and Glen has already stated that he would be willing to do that in the right situation. Not saying this would qualify, but Lip's deal is doable. I like Lip's idea because it gives us Carroll, who I like at the number he signed for. I think both Brewer and Bud will now be considered bad deals by other teams, so if we need to move them we will be having to sweeten the pot. I do like having Brewer, but not at the deal he signed.

sjm, good catch. I don't know how I messed up the calculator. Oops lol. Fixed it now though. And I've heard all off-season long that Taylor has no interest in going into the luxury. Zgoda has said it. Wolfson has said it. Flip has kind of hinted here and there about it. It's something that Taylor wants nothing of. I still don't think Bud and Brewer's deals are as bad as people say they are. Especially Brewer's. I would have loved to have them for cheaper, but 5M is pretty much average salary and they're both above average players.
Re: Flip v. Lip
Since it is Glen's money, I guess I will go with what he stated rather than what our local media have speculated. Other than quoting Glen, we should seriously question anything that Doogie or Jerry.

Re: Flip v. Lip
Find me where Glen Taylor himself said that he'd be okay with going into the luxury. Wolfson and Zgoda may not be as educated on the team and cap and things like that, but they do have an ear closer to the situation than we do.
Re: Flip v. Lip
Honestly I think both Zgoda and Doogie reported that Glenn is willing to go into the luxury tax if there is a compelling reason to do so. Some people thinks that sounds cheap, but it sounds like solid business sense to me. Thats pretty much what Glenn has been saying or a few years now.
