GR3 Needs more minutes
Re: GR3 Needs more minutes
That shows how closely Reusse keeps an eye on the Wolves. Thad at 9 mil for 2 years is our 2nd worst contract behind Pek...
Re: GR3 Needs more minutes
the column is a great read, thanks Carlos. How can Flip be adept at drafting and so bad at free agents and contracts?

Papal, I wouldn't quite declare Flip as adept at drafting just yet. Yes, relative to Kahn, he's a genius. But a drunk monkey throwing darts would have made better picks than Kahn.
Dieng and Shabazz have proven to be solid rotation players, but we don't know yet if either will ever be major difference makers. Right now they make up 2/5ths of the starting lineup on a 5-win team with a historically poor defense. But it's still early and they both can still develop and improve. And LaVine is still a complete unknown to me. His play hasn't convinced me that he will be an impact player, but nor has it convinced me that he doesn't have the potential to become one. We just don't know yet.
Hindsight is 20/20 comment: Rudy Gobert was drafted after Dieng (27th in 2013) and just ate his lunch last night. The difference in their impact in the paint wasn't even close. In fact, I think Gobert is already better than Kanter. Oh yeah, and he's three years younger than Dieng. If we had to do that draft all over again, I would have picked Gobert over Dieng.

Still think the problem was Glen and Adelman. They got Adelman to come here with the promise that everything would be done to try and win now. So they signed a bunch of vets that they thought could get it done. It was totally stupid thinking, because even if everything went perfectly we would never have seen a conference final. But I don't believe Flip was the one pushing for the deals, with the exception of what Pek received. That one's on Flip.

Play the Glue Guy, cmon Flip!! GR3 only Wolf with a positive plus/minus. Daniels sucks as a shooter 1-8 and does little else. There is no reason this undrafted free agent of two years ago is getting more minutes over GR3. Same with Bud, he was atrocious, -23 plus minus.

Ricky, Flip has said that Robinson will be going down to a D League team, maybe as early as Sunday or Monday. Flip is just trying to find a team that will guarantee him steady minutes, I think it's a good move. Flip needs to see what he has in GR3, and he's just not able to get any minutes with the Wolves now. I would like to see Zach get some D League time too once Ricky and Mo are both healthy.

Re: GR3 Needs more minutes
I guess D-League is better than rotting on the bench as long as he gets good minutes. But my only concern with GR3 in the D-League is he's sort of a glue/complementary team type player and isn't the alpha dog in a league where the alphas tend to hog the ball. My preference would be that he would get more minutes here though and build chemistry with the young guys. I just don't see Daniels or Budinger as vital to the future and don't like them taking minutes that could be used to let GR3 develop.

Re: GR3 Needs more minutes
GRIII needs the D-League only for one thing: score points like crazy. He's talented, but he's not aggressive enough as a scorer. That's been a knock on him since high school. Hopefully he has a Shabazz-like stint in the D-League.
