GR3 and. 2nd round picks or even late firsts are where you can find hidden gems. Maybe you get a really good player like Manu or Chandler Parsons or Michael Redd or Stephenson or Ellis or Gasol. Maybe you get a solid rotation player like a Blair or Bud or Chalmers or Ramon Sessions or Isaiah Thomas. There is a pretty good list of 2nd round picks that became pretty useful over the years. I'm not saying not to be skeptical but I don't see why we can't get excited about a young guy like GR3. I remember how pissed people were that we didn't get DeJuan Blair when he dropped a few years ago. I remembering really wanting to take a shot at Lance Stephenson in that draft. I remember liking Danny Green a lot. Sure I'm cherry picking some guys I liked that at this point are nice players now but its just an example of guys that I've liked that turned out well. I liked Cole Aldrich and he hasn't done much of anything so far. Lol
Once he becomes something other than our last guy and becomes a real threat for playing time, I will get excited as hell about him. Until then I'd rather talk about Dieng and anybody else who is actually in our rotation.
I hope you never once posted about Shabazz Muhammad or Gorgui Dieng last year then. Back when they were struggling for minutes. If they aren't a rotation player then they are not worthy of CoolBreeze's words. They are just pons who never amount to anything and should be completely ignored... I'm mocking your post, but in all seriousness, nobody said Robinson was a star/stud. We (Robinson supporters) are excited that we have a 2nd round pick with potential to completely outplay where he was selected and possibly turn into a nice starer, bench piece or trade asset. Regardless, I see zero reason why Robinson shouldn't be discussed as much as the other young prospects currently on the team.
That's it, take something out of a much broader context and use it to refute what I'm really saying. And, one big difference between GRIII and our two number one picks last year - they were actually on the team, and being counted on to be part of the future.

As Minnesota sports fans we are blessed to have a lot more going on than a lot of other markets. The big markets with high expectations don't obsess over the last guy on the roster. I choose not to either. That time is better spent worrying about who the Vikings middle linebacker will be.
Why do you keep referring to GR3 as the 15th guy? He's not on our roster yet and when he gets on our roster, our roster is not slotted in any order. I certainly like him over other guys on our roster, but please no need to keep referring to him as 15th guy.
You're right, so far he's not even the 15th guy. So why is this such a big deal?
Cool it feels like you are attacking people for talking about a guy this franchise picked in the 2nd round and some people think he has a chance to be a useful player. Your posts make it sound like we are idiots for caring about GR3 and it feel like in your posts like you are making the rules about what we should and shouldn't talk about. This is a Timberwolves message board, and Wolves have his and he is a legit NBA prospect. If you don't care about him fine. Other people like him as a prospect. If you don't care about him why keep posting about him? Of course if you want to go right on ahead. =)
Also if you wanna discuss the Vikings MLB situation post over on the Vikings board (I've been over there a decent amount) and I'd love to hear what you have to say on that topic.
Also about your small market comment...the Lakers fans I'm friends with know every player on their team (even last year) and have some reasonable interest in Ryan Kelly as a possible useful player. I think any fan of a team that cares about any player on the roster or pick foreign or domestic seems rational to me but thats my opinion.
One last thing about GR3 and the Wolves. I'm really not worried about GR3 becasue I think the Flip likes him and will find a way to hold onto him one way or another. Its clear Flip is trying to rebuild with young talent that also has a chance to be 2 way talent. GR3 fits that and is a guy thats young, has talent athletic etc etc. He is gonna stick with the Wolves. As Brit Robison said in his last article its a weird combo of guys Flip the GM and coach has put together vets and young guys so its gonna be interesting to see how he manages that and GR3 is at the bottom of the rung right now of young talent, but I think he is still in the team's plans and its nice to have the infusion of young talent while not just dumping all the useful vet guys.
I was really responding to the original post in this thread. I happen to agree that we spend too much time talking about RGIII relative to others on the team.
That being said, I think it was a good draft pick for a 2nd rounder. I like GR3 and was a big fan of his Dad. I hope he becomes the next great 2nd rounder in the league.
Monster, I think your post above was a bit of an overreaction. I'm not hating on GR3 or any poster on the board. Just simply stating that I'm not losing any sleep over whether GR3 makes the team.

I could argue that Robinson has a better chance of becoming a successful NBA player than Muhammad due to his more well-rounded game. So how is Muhammad counted on for the future, but Robinson isn't? Your argument makes it seem like Robinson is merely a 15th man when our very own POBO had him rated as the 27th best prospect in one of the best drafts of the 2000s. This really isn't hard to understand. He's an asset.

For you it probably seemed like an overreaction, but I was just communicating to you the way your last few posts sounded at least to me thats all.
