At least Pippen could get a team without MJ into the playoffs.

Love has a long way to go before I'd consider him on Pippen's level. Scottie did so many things exceptionally well -- ball-handling, scoring, passing, rebounding, defense. Some people tend to overlook his passing, which was exceptional. He could play three positions -- PG, SG and SF -- and often brought the ball up and ran the point for the Bulls. Actually, knowing that Thad Young plays PF, Pippen could have played the PF position as well.

Well said, no argument here on Pippens talent. But Love is going to be a 25-12 guy with Lebron on a title team. That is ridiculous for a #2.

What sets Pippen apart is that he was one of the best defenders of his era and he could guard 4 positions. He would have been a really good player regardless of his offensive abilities which were pretty good. IMO the only player since Pippen that has his overall all-around versatile game is Lebron with KG right behind.

Kareem was still a heck of a player when the Lakers were winning championships with Magic and Worthy etc. He didn't go into a significant decline till around the mid 80's. He is one of the best centers ever to play the game and I think there are a bunch of guys you can make a claim as the best ever.

Parker may have been the #1 as a scorer for the Spurs in some championships but Duncan was the #1 imo because of his defensive abilities and overall game. Parker isn't a significant asset on defense. Picking a true #1 on those teams is very difficult (part of why the Spurs are so great) so I really don't think its worth squabbling about that's for sure.

Love's strengths will translate extremely well as a #2 especially playing with Lebron. What keeps him from being one of the best #2 of all time (the book isn't written on what Love will accomplish though) is he isn't going to be an elite defender. However his rebounding and ability to draw fouls on bigs are pretty special traits for a #2 to have not to mention his floor spacing.

I voted Pippen, mainly because he's one of the best (if not THE best) defenders in league history. Very versatile, physical and impactful. He could also get and efficient 20 on any given night.

Love will be by far the next best on that list, though. I believe him and LeBron could be the hardest duo to stop on offense that the NBA has ever seen, and there's been a ton of good duos.

To early for that.

This talk is making me remember how good Rodman was on the Bulls. He was really good for them. Guarding Shaq and Karl Malone. Then when he was with the Piston's he guarded MJ.

Too early for what? LeBron James and Kevin Love will be playing together. That's a 27/7/7 player paired up with a 26/12/4 player. Good luck against those guys.

Name an offensive duo that is for sure better than them. Magic and Kareem? Nope. Jordan and Pippen? Nope. Parker and Duncan? Nope. Only one that is worth talking about is Shaq and Kobe, and the added threat of Love's three-point stroke gives them the edge for me. Keep in mind both LeBron and Love are extremely efficient. I don't feel like I'm overreacting at all. Two of the most unique players that basketball has ever seen will be paired up.

At first I thought Cam was going to far and sure its too early to say for certain because it hasn't happened YET but Lebron and Love's offensive games compliment each other so well they may be the best offensive duo ever. Its quite the proclaimation but its worth considering and I'm buying in. I'm getting excited about seeing the cavs play. How will I find time to watch both the Wolves and the Cavs games on the NBA broadband pass? lol

I have only two comments:

1) Pippen

2) This will be my last appearance in a thread that dares to mention Pippen and Love in the same breath.

Um you just named them both in the same sentence. Lol

Also one last thing is some of the reasons some guys or combinations of guys were great was they stayed healthy. Jordan and Pippen seemed like they never missed a game. My Uncle always says something like "Every year Bill Walton was Healthy he won a championship" There are quite a few guys in my lifetime that may have been looked at differently if they had been able to stay healthy. When was the last time Love finished a season? Sure he probably would have come back sooner if games mattered (no problem with keeping him out since the games didn't matter) but he has had some problems staying healthy.

I am going to leave this right here for you Cam.

Player Age TRB AST STL BLK PTS
Kobe Bryant 22 5.9 5.0 1.7 0.6 28.5
Shaquille O'Neal 28 12.7 3.7 0.6 2.8 28.7

You are right. Love and Lebron will be the best offensive tandem in history.
