I could see Pek and Martin for Bledsoe, wolves might get a pick also. Plus Rubio and Bledsoe could both get paid if Taylor is willing to pay the tax, also that would make the development of Wiggins and Lavine crucial to the wolves success

Maybe the biggest point is that the salary cap is increasing I want to say next year (could be wrong there on when it is happening) So getting Bledsoe at like 14 mil and Rubio at 12 mil (Pek contract) wouldn't be that bad, IMO

sounds like part of the deal is making the wolves pick that the suns have unprotected for next year. I am super mixed on this

Wow, it's risky to use a max deal on someone that is still relatively unproven. Yes, Bledsoe had a career year offensively last season until he got injured, but so did everyone else in Phoenix. The year before that, he was solid in LA, but by no means a max-level asset. How much of his production in Phoenix was "the system" versus Bledsoe improving transferable skill-sets?

One thing we do know is that he can defend. Him and Rubio would probably be the most terrorizing backcourt defensive tandem in the NBA.

If this deal goes through, no one can say that Flip isn't building an identity: Young, aggressive, versatile, and athletic. There is no question we would be better defensively. Not sure how we'll generate offense in the half-court though.

Interesting development...I don't know what to think about it. I have to believe that, as a former point guard himself, Flip doesn't see Bledsoe as a PG...very poor assist to turnover ratio. But Bledsoe is viable next to Rubio as a SG on offense and PG on defense, since Rubio has the length to guard most SG's. So the next question is what Flip wants to give up in return. I see two likely strategies:

1) Free up time for Dieng: In this scenario, Flip deals Pek and JJ for Bledsoe. Dieng moves into the starting lineup, and Martin moves into a better role as instant offense off the bench.

2) Dump Martin's contract. If this is the goal, I see Flip offering Martin, Bud and JJ for Bledsoe.

I guess I would be okay with either scenario, although not wildly so, but I prefer number 1. I just don't see Pek and Dieng playing together much, and I think Dieng showed at the end of last year and in FIBA that he is ready to be a starting center. A starting lineup of Rubio, Bledsoe, Wiggins, Young and Dieng is unbelievably athletic, and very strong defensively. Dieng's ability to protect the rim makes him a much better pairing with Young, and I like Martin in a bench role where his defense won't hurt us too much. And it gives a very young LaVine a couple years to adjust to the NBA. I have been an advocate of dealing Pek for a good starting 2-way shooting guard since last spring, and perhaps this is the best deal we can get for Pek.

I don't think Phoenix is likely to match, which makes me wonder if Flip is overpaying...the Suns have to know more about Bledsoe than he does.

First off, Bledsoe has to accept the wolves offer, so I hate to say it if Bledsoe wants to be in Minnesota it is for the max.

We couldn't sign him outright anyways so it has to be a sign and trade.

I'm thinking something like

PHX - Pek, Budinger, Barea, Remove the protection from the 1st rounder we owe them

MIN - Bledsoe and either Len or Plumlee

I don't feel comfortable only having Dieng and Turiaf as our legit big guys so we would need one of their centers back but I'm not sure the Suns would be willing to part with either one of them.

I doubt this happens but would be totally stoked if it did. We could use Martin as our sixth man and have a great backcourt for the first time in years.

I agree, kek, that Bledsoe would accept the Wolves offer...he wants that max deal. But I'm just wondering if Flip is overpaying. I admit I saw much more of Bledsoe when he was playing here in LA, and his play was often erratic. Maybe his 2013-4 season plus potential makes him more worthy of a $15 million + contract.

I assume the Wolves don't have room to do this without a sign and trade, so Phoenix still has to agree to what Flip offers. But the Suns don't have much leverage here, because they don't want to lose Bledsoe for nothing, and he doesn't seem to have other suitors at the price tag he is seeking.

Based on what they have shown to date, I would rather have Bledsoe than Ricky. He is less of a playmaker, but he is a legit go-to option as he can get to the bucket and finish with that athleticism. They are both very good defenders. Even if Ricky isn't included in the trade, it gives us negotiating leverage and a backup plan for Ricky if someone does throw a big number at him. Bledsoe did play off Wall at Kentucky so he has played off the ball and would give us another ball handler. I just don't see the long-term fit next to Rubio with Bledsoe missing the height and Rubio missing the athleticism to guard 2's full-time. A Bledsoe/Lavine/Wiggins/Thad/Dieng lineup would be crazy athletic. Relying on a borderline 40% FG shooter as your primary ball handler just makes life tough because he's just not much of a threat to do anything but pass.
