Here is the deal I do:

Houston gets: Love / Martin or Brewer (Hou choice) / Barea
MN gets: Parsons (resigned) / Terrance Jones / Asik

Need to find a deal to move Pek.

I feel this makes sense for all.
Houston gets Big 3 in Howard, Love and Harden that all fit together very well. Still have solid bench, and can add some older vets that will want to compete for championship run to fill out needed pieces.

MN gets solid assets and depth, and balances roster. I really like Parsons as well as the defensive capabilities of this team with Dieng/Asik in the middle. Also, Jones is solid player as well, and could move into the starting 4 next season and be productive from day 1.

Am I crazy? I look at this deal for Houston, and think they are giving up a lot. But then, the fact is that teams win with superstras....and Love is by far the best individual player in this deal. While Houston gives up a lot, none are stars, and they will need to give a lot for Love. To me, this is the best deal that could POTENTIALLY be out there. I like it even more than a top 3 pick this year. I take Parsons as a known quantity before reaching for an unknown draft pick.

I'd rather trade Love to Boston/LA for their lottery pick and other assets instead of sending to him to Houston for a package that keeps us mediocre for the same price AND helps build a contender with a ridiculously high potential in our own conference. No thanks.

Those 2 alone really cant compete with the pick that Boston or LA can offer up.

Yes, I agree with Phenom and SJM. Thompson MUST be included in any Golden State deal because it gives us a legitimate two-way starting SG whose best years are still in front of him.

Hicks, I don't like any deal that requires us to make additional moves to find a fit for an asset coming back. We have Love, the best player in any deal, so the onus should be on Houston to find something for Asik. You do realize he is a one year rental as well don't you?

I like Parsons re-signed, and Jones can be a starting PF in this league, buy you are essentially giving up Love for Parsons when it comes down to value, and that isn't close to enough. Parsons and a top ten pick would be a jumping off point, and then being able to send out a bad contract or two, or getting an additional future first.

I guess I just disagree with Camden and sjm.

sjm, Jones is not simply a "throw-in" as you make it seem. In Love's absence, we will need a productive player at the PF spot. Jones just turned 22 in Jan, and he made huge strides from year 1 to year 2 in terms of performance. This elevation in his game is important to forecasting if he has room to improve....and I would say, clearly he does. Dude scored over 12 ppg, while shooting 54%, grabbed 7 rebounds and is a better defender than Love. Not sure I wouldn't take Jones over any of the PF in this years draft. Equal replacement for Love? No....but to say that Parsons is the only impactful player is completely false. It is not as simple as "Love vs Parsons". How about if you expand and say "Love/Brewer" vs. "Jones/Parsons" at PF/SF spots. I think Parsons is so far ahead of Brewer as a player, it makes this deal look much more even.

And I agree a bit about the Asik angle. That being said, I want him on this team. I actually haven't seen him play a ton, but everything I have read about the guy makes claim that he is one of the top defenders in the NBA. And while being SEVERELY overpaid next season, he will not garner that type of money after next season, and we would control (as much as a team can) the opportunity to resign at a more friendly deal. I think he has a lot of value as a player that can play and be resigned at some point. And while I loved Dieng's play down the stretch, doing it over the course of an 82 game season is something very different. I am not yet prepared to declare him our future.

And as far as trading "in conference", I personally find this to be a ridiculous way to look at things. I believe you have to take the BEST DEAL FOR YOUR TEAM and not worry about what someone else is getting. If you think the trade makes you a better team, or it is the best offer out there, you need to make the deal and let the chips fall.
So many things can change year-to-year, it is too hard to predict where everyone else is going to be moving forward. A key injury can hit anyone, and make any team look poor.
In my mind, this is a Love/Martin for Parsons/Jones/Asik deal. If feels very fair to me. While Martin scored a bunch, we all know his impact is not refective of his ppg. He was a lost cause in important minutes, and was one of the reasons we weren't able to compete in close games...the guy simply disappears. And that is his history as a player, and not just a reflection on last season alone. Also, JJ has no value to this team. He simply needs to move on.

"How about if you expand and say "Love/Brewer" vs. "Jones/Parsons" at PF/SF spots"

This isn't even close, though. It's so far one-sided towards Love/Brewer that it shouldn't be close in anyone's mind really. As for Jones, you're overrating him, in my opinion. His PER36 says he's a 16/9 player. Nothing to scoff at, but it's not exactly blue chip prospect status either. No doubt in my mind that Payne from MSU is going to available at 13 and if we wanted a player in Jones' mold, we could go that route and still have Love. While I'm a big fan of Parsons, he's not enough to balance this trade out.

So we'd have two centers getting paid $12M+ next year. Man, if that's not a recipe for disaster for this franchise I don't know what is. I'd rather have Dieng on his rookie contract than Asik on his overpaid deal.

Right, BEST DEAL FOR YOUR TEAM. This Houston deal isn't it. GS/CHI and LAL/BOS (if ping pong balls fall their way) can offer better packages.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l7xwbp2 + Golden State 1st in 2019.

Wolves: Thompson (GS), Lee (GS), Blake (GS), Waiters (CLE), Varejao (CLE), Gee (CLE)

Warriors: Love, Budinger, Barea

Cavs: Pekovic, Martin

Yes, I realize Blake's a free agent this summer, but I added him to Minnesota because it's a place-holder as I'd have us sign him using the MLE. Barea goes to Golden State as part of the Kevin Love trade. I did that to make salaries work on Trade Machine.

Quick blowup, but really just big moves to re-tool and stay competitive, get youth and athleticism. Maybe I'm playing around on Trade Machine too much.

PG: Rubio/Blake
SG: Waiters/Lottery Pick (Stauskas, Harris, Hairston)
SF: Thompson/Brewer
PF: Lee/Varejao
C: Dieng/Turiaf

I feel like that team above is better than the one we have right now...
