I know what you''re saying, but I never called out Kahn for drafting 4 point guards. The Lawson situation was exactly the same as Burke in terms of drafting for another team. It was just a raw deal for the Wolves.

The 2nd starter is Terrence Jones. Nobody knew Budinger would hurt his knee, but regardless, Morey traded him in his last year knowing he would get a big pay raise. So now they have Terrence Jones (a better player, injury or not) being paid $5.5 mil over the next 3 years instead of $15 mil. It was a great move by Morey.

I would love to see the Clipper or Laker fan base dealing with him making decisions!

Well that's true

That is exactly my point on the Lawson thing though. The media bashed kahn for drafting the 4 pgs. THey haven't said a work about Flip doing. We both know that Kahn wouldn't have taken Lawson with the pick had we kept it.

I hated the Bud move, but as I recall most on the board thought it was a good move. I criticized it for exactly the reason you pointed out. Bud was on the last year of his deal. That being said, who do you think was behind that deal? It has Adelman written all over it.

Kahn's biggest blunders other than hiring Rambis have usually involved trying to please the coaches. In Taylor's post Kahn interview he also admitted that Kahn was never hired to handle talent evaluation, but they just never hired anyone other than Ronzone to take that position. Taylor blamed himself for that.

I am glad Kahn is out of here, and he certainly made his fair share of mistakes, but the media bashing was way over the top. Kahn couldn't predict Flynn's injury anymore than he could have predicted Bud getting injured, but he should have realized that Flynn wasn't a good fit for the triangle and that Bud would be looking for his payday.

Wes was clearly Rambis' guy for the triangle, too bad he couldn't dribble. Bud was the vet that Rick wanted rather than having to refuse to develop another young guy.

Good points, but I don't think the blame falls on Adelman. Adelman was just sick of all of Kahn's dream athletes and wanted actual basketball players. Kahn kept bringing in guys like Beasley, Randolph, Darko, Ryan Hollins, etc because he had no idea how to actually evaluate talent. I remember the Adelman quote "I just want guys who can play," and I remember Love in that Yahoo article saying something like "every year it's all new players, like we have no plan." The GM's only job is to bring in talent, so that falls on Kahn.

Gee, kms, you left out a big boo-boo by Kahn: trading away Al Jefferson, an MVP candidate this year, for virtually nothing!

Al Jefferson could not play with Kevin Love. That was obvious.

Well... ok... so the Wolves didn't really try. But Kahn and Rambis said it wouldn't work. And with the storied history of both men in the annals of NBA history... we have take their word for it, right?

Well, I must confess, I thought Love and Jefferson would make a poor front court as well...

But the trade ended up being pretty bad. After gaining a nice trade exception in exchange for Big Al, Kahn utilized it to acquire Anthony Randolph. While I liked the potential of that trade at the time, I'm not the one paid to evaluate NBA talent. Randolph failed big time, thus the Big Al for Anthony Randolph trade was one of Kahn's bigger flops...

Cause the Love/Pek frontcourt are just studs at protecting the rim. Funny how a lot of people are clamoring to keep a Love/Pek frontcourt when we had an even better offensive duo in Love/Jefferson. Turns out, the right coach could have got Big Al to actually care about playing a little D as well. I was on the bandwagon that Love/Al couldn't work, but at least I'm out here saying Love/Pek won't work either.
