LST were you expecting Bud to get back to form faster than he is currently doing it? I'm pretty please with his improvement since starting to play again.....am I correct in assuming that you think that he should be improving faster?
I agree that he is having a challenging time guarding the perimeter. I'm not sure how much that will improve over time.
No, I think he has responded to two knee surgeries about how I would have expected. I expected him to struggle defensively and with his shot until next year, and he has actually shot threes better than I would have predicted. I continue to be astonished, though, that Adelman can't see how much Bud is struggling with all aspects of his game other than 3=point shooting.
I have always liked Bud, but I see his ceiling as offensive sparkplug off the bench. I'm hoping he can recover his athleticism and be able to contribute off the bench in 2014-5.
Got ya. It looks like we just differ on the top end of his potential.
Kiwi, it looks like we have a more similar view on Bud (Legalize it!)
Yep heading that way in NZ. Never killed anyone. I smoke it for pain relief, well that's my excuse anyways! :thumb:

It's a thought, bleed, but here's my concern. I think the two starting wing positions (SF and SG) need at least one good defender and one good ball handler. that way you have at least one guy who can guard the stronger opponent wing, but you still have a ball handler to pair with Rubio and Love. Neither Shabazz or Brewer is an especially good ball handler.
I agree that Budinger isn't fully recovered yet from his knee surgeries. However, he's never been a good defender, particularly at the SG position and he doesn't have the ball handling ability to play SG effectively on the offensive end either. He can be a solid scoring backup off the bench. That's what he's always been and that's what he'll always be. Not worth $5 million a year, but we're stuck with him at that price.

It is not perfect, but until we get some wings that are better ball handlers it might be the best we can do.

I haven't been big on chase since we traded for him and it seems like ever since he threw on a wolves jersey his play hasn't been anywhere close to what we expected with him coming to minny.
However with that said I realize he has had to deal with the injury issues and I think its only fair to reserve judgment until at least the end of the season. His play in February has been encouraging (mostly his 3 ball 41% on 3.5 attempts a game) and it will be important to for him to build on that and maybe become the smart 3 point shooter we thought we were getting in the trade

Since being put with Rubio for the most part, Bud has been lights out.
If you look at it, the two really haven't played together since Bud got here. When Bud was healthy, Rubio was out, and so on. Can't really fault chase for not getting the best looks playing with JJ.
Saying that I would want to start him over Brew when everyone gets healthy

Who guards the opponents' best wing if Bud and Martin start? I would say Martin, but it's not a very good option. I have the same issue with suggestions that Shabazz and Martin start. Brew's better defense and full court chemistry with Love are why he's my first choice to start at SF.
To further LST's point, you ideally want complimentary pairings on the wing. Right now it feels like we have a bunch of different flavors to choose from at SF and very few flavors at SG. So yeah, as long as Martin starts at SG, you really need someone that is a willing defender at the 3.
