Wolves Draft Thread
Re: Wolves Draft Thread
Praying for a Connelly miracle. Someone overseas that was rarely talked about. James Nnaji or trade up for Bilal.

I think we are focusing t0o much on how ineffective he was late last season after returning from his injury, and ignoring his effectiveness prior to that. I would have no problem starting out next season with JMac backing up Conley. That said, I'm a big fan of Tyus, and I would jump on a Prince/JMac for Tyus deal. I'm not concerned about not signing Naz. and as I've said in other threads, think it actually might be addition by subtraction. I also think Tyus would really embrace this deal. He and his wife both have a lot of family in the western suburbs they are very close to, and I'm sure he would relish the chance to succeed Conley as starter in a couple years.Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 2:49 pmI would LOVE a trade for Tyus assuming it's fair value (not Rudy like). We must address PG. I'd feel much better going into next year with Tyus/Conley and maybe a young PG as #3. But if we intend to compete (and that seems to be the plan), then you can't depend on a young PG much (especially where we are picking this draft).Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 2:18 pm It’s been reported that the Wolves are discussing a trade with the Wizards that would include Prince and JMac in exchange for Tyus Jones. I really like Tyus, but there are two problems with that deal. First, it would add a net $4.3 million to our payroll, which would reduce the margin for re-signing Naz without exceeding the luxury tax threshold next season. Second, Tyus has only one year left on his deal, which means he could walk in a year and re-signing him would make it even more difficult to keep both bigs and Naz while staying under the second apron. It’s likely Tyus will close more than Prince to re-sign next summer. The Wolves payroll margin is simply too thin for the Tyus deal. Better to trade up and draft a young PG prospect who would be locked up for several years at low cost to learn under Conley.
As far as making room for him on the payroll, there are obviously going to be several pins to drop between now and finalization of the roster. You mention re-signing Naz. But we don't know if that's the real plan or if they simply want to sign/trade Naz. I know they've publicly stated they want to re-sign him. But they'd be foolish to say anything else.
I sort of wanted to take a nap until about 9 when I think the Wolves will be drafting. But I'm starting to feel a little buzz in the air that maybe there will be some excitement early. We shall see!
Lip, where did you here reports of this potential deal, and do you think they are credible? I can't find anything.
Twitter rumor, FNG. So I’m not sure we can take it to the bank. I just thought it made sense as something TC would be logically interested in doing. The Wizards are in total rebuild mode so I can see them wanting to move Tyus. However, I don’t think they’d have much interest in Prince unless we adding young talent or future picks. We don’t have any any future 1st round picks to offer and I don’t think we want it deplete our replenished supply of future 2nd rounders. Maybe including Moore would get the deal done. Prince, JMac and Moore for Tyus would be a reasonable deal for both sides.

I think I may have found it also...Prince, JMac and a second for Tyus. Found it with a Google search, but the page is empty when I click on it. Anyway, I'd be in favor!Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 3:49 pmFNG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 3:31 pmI'm in a different place from you and Lip, Carlos. Re: Wolves Draft Thread
I posted this earlier... It takes Prince and 2 of Jmac, Moore or Nate to make the trade today. But after July 1st, it will only take Prince and 1 of Jmac, Moore or Nate (due to Tyus's salary dropping 1 mil on the 1st).FNG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 4:38 pmI think I may have found it also...Prince, JMac and a second for Tyus. The Monte Morris angle is interesting because TC is familiar with him (although he did trade him!). Prince for Monte can happen today or after the 1st.

Re: Wolves Draft Thread
I happened to tune into KFAN a little while ago. They were saying Tyus seems pretty happy with this last trade because he's going to get an opportunity to start. I assume that's a big motivator for a lot of these guys (think Naz). They want to go where there is opportunity because opportunity means $$$.
Would love the Tyus deal. Not sure how real it is. Conley would need to agree to come off bench which I would LOVE. But I'm not sure that Conley would love that.

Dane Mooore reports ESPN has the Wolves taking Ant's old Georgia teammate Toumani Camara at 53. Lots of video of Ant feeding him for dunks out there on the internet. I would have no problem with adding Toumani.

I’ll be happy if we end up with any of the following 10 in the following order of preference;
1. Scoot Henderson - would require KAT trade if even possible
2. Anthony Black - Would also require a KAT trade
3. Brandin Podziemski - might be obtainable with a Prince + trade
4. Amari Bailey - need to trade up
5. Ben Sheppard - need to trade up
6. Marcus Sasser - need to trade up
7. Isaiah Wong - might be available at 53. If not, very short trade up
8. Jazian Gortman - Likely available at 53
9. Craig Porter Jr. -Likely available at 53
10. Jordan Miller - Likely available at 53

Something must be wrong! Woj didn't tweet who the Spurs are taking...
