Last roster spot
Re: Last roster spot
Shams: The Minnesota Timberwolves are signing former Hawks G/F Tyrese Martin to a one-year deal, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Martin will compete for a regular-season spot in T'Wolves training camp.
Re: Last roster spot
22= 14 standard contract players
plus 3 two ways (Garza, Clark, Ryan)
plus 5: Krejca, Cooke, Keels, Nix, Tyrese Martin
Isn't 21 the limit, and if so who of the above is not on the Training Camp roster?

Re: Last roster spot
I remember that news item as well. Although checking the Wolves transactions on spotrac.com does not show that signing, so somebody was either wrong, or got cold feet...
Re: Last roster spot
I honestly forgot all about him. I wonder if they already signed and waived him so he would end up being allocated to Iowa. My guess is maybe he signed some sort of g-league deal instead of an NBA one? Idk but he is clearly way way way below all the other guys they have added to the roster.
Re: Last roster spot
Martin averaged 18 points and over 8 rebounds a game in the G league last year. He was rebounder in college also so this isn’t a fluke. He is the answer to our rebounding woes!!!

Re: Last roster spot
Just a couple things to add on Trevor Keels
I was high on him as a possible late first roujd early 2nd as a guy that hadn’t even turned 19 yet and did some good things his freshman year at Duke. I did cool a bit on him after the combine. 24 inch standing vertical and 31 inch max.if I remember right his body fat was 13.5 percent which isn’t a surprise. Watching him play he isn’t a dynamic athlete either in college or g-league. His shot actually looks ok. He can make some plays for others and is strong. I can see why he dropped in the draft to where he did and why he is now fighting for a chance in the league.
Other stuff to consider.
He played with Wendell Moore Jr so that could be a nice connection. He also played with huge lob threat Mark Williams. Theo john played with him also. The Wolves probably had plenty of intel about him if they needed it.
Anywho he is another guard in addition to Nix that is big and maybe could be even better if he slimmed down some.

Re: Last roster spot
Jason Preston was waived by the Clippers. He is 24 years old. He had a nice G League season last year. In the G League, Preston averaged 16.7 points, 6.7 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 turnovers while shooting 56% inside the arc and 37% beyond it.
He has a 6"8 wingspan, so he's long like TC likes. He is a very good rebounder for a guard which showed in college and G League. He's put up impressive assists to turnovers. The last two years of college, he shot 40.7 and 39.0% from threes. I wish we had an open spot for him as I like him as much as anyone among Ryan, Vit, Keels, Nix and Martin, though he's a bit older than everyone but Matt Ryan who is 26.

Re: Last roster spot
In other news, Theo Maledon who I liked a lot was resigned to a two-way deal with Charlotte.

Did we already fill our 15th roster spot and 3rd two-way slot?KG4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 9:21 pm Jason Preston was waived by the Clippers. He is 24 years old. Re: Last roster spot
I think our two way spots are full with Garza, Clark and Ryan. We can always cut Ryan and open up the spot. Our 15th spot is open. We do have a full training camp roster at 21, so if we brought in an outside guy for our 15th spot, we'll need to cut one of our training camp guys.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 10:45 pmDid we already fill our 15th roster spot and 3rd two-way slot?KG4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 9:21 pm Jason Preston was waived by the Clippers.
