As a Wolves fan, I like DJJ on LA much more than next to Luka.

If the Clippers lose Paul George as expected, they’ll take a step back even with the acquisition of Derrick Jones Jr. Meanwhile, losing Darrick Jones will hurt the Mavs. Among the potential championship contenders in the West, the Nuggets, Suns, Clippers and Mavs have all lost a bit so far this summer. OKC and the Pelicans have improved significantly. I believe the Lakers have also improved.

I still expect the Nuggets to be tough nexts season. The Thunder will likely be a lot better and they already had a better record than we did last season. Look out for the Pelicans. I think the Rockets are poised to jump into the contender pool. I believe the Wolves will be better next season solely based on adding Terrence Shannon in the draft. I’m hoping Ant and Jaden will improve again. I think it’s important to bring back Slo Mo.

Right, but it comes at a cost in terms of the luxury tax bill, no? In addition, we need to move on from him. He helped us graduate to a legit playoff team, but his unwillingness and inability to shoot the 3 in an absolute killer in the playoffs. It mucks up our half court and none of the other stuff he does well makes up for the issues he creates with his inability to shoot.

We need other guys to step up and start being the adults in the room and help settle us down in half court sets. We still have Mommy and Daddy in Conley and Rudy, but wise old Uncle SloMo needs to go.
Yes it will be very costly to keep SloMo but I am under the assumption that the team is willing to spend to a point. Letting him walk will necessitate moving bigger core pieces sooner to improve the team. Otherwise he is replaced by a minimum signing which won't be very valuable on the trade market.
I agree, Phenom. I at least want to start the season with Slo Mo. I another wing like Terrence, Minott or Miller steps up and shows he’s ready to be a significant positive contributor by next February, then the Wolves can trade Slo Mo at the February trade deadline.

I want to say I agree with you that the pelicans are better however they have no bigs currently. I don’t know if they are surviving series against Jokic, AD or the wolves at the moment. That can change but the bigs at the moment need to be added to the pelicans. Also it sounds like they are still shopping BI

If we land Ingles or Batum at the vet minimum, then there is absolutely no reason to bring back SloMo. But in the absence of a vet minimum signing like one of those guys, I can see the merit in bringing him back as veteran insurance. But he'll have to play mostly SF again and we all know that's not a great position for him.

We also know that Finch wants the second unit to play with more pace next season, something that Dillingham and Shannon excel at (not to mention Josh Minott in the event he actually looks NBA-ready). Having a guy whose nickname is SloMo as one of your main bench pieces doesn't seem like a great fit in that regard!
